The copy of ^1SIMPLY INGENIOUS^0 provided on Big Blue Disk is NOT a
"demo" package, but a FULL-POWERED production version of the product. There
is just one limitation on this free version of the software . . . "N.COM" has
a TEMPORARY RECORD LIMIT incorporated which limits the number of lines in the
note file to just 75 lines. This limitation leaves you enough margin to get
familiar with the product and discover its ease of use, power, speed, and
practicality.
ENTERING INFORMATION
Type any message, note, or information you wish to store and press ENTER
twice. Notes must be longer than two words. Simply Ingenious memorizes what
you enter, adds the date and time, and places the note in a sequential log
file named "NOTES.FIL".
Notes may be up to sixteen lines in length. If you go beyond column 70 on
the screen, the cursor will automatically wrap to the next line. Hitting
ENTER as you type information will cause the cursor to move to the next line.
Use the backspace key, above the ENTER key, to move backwards and correct any
mistakes in your note before hitting ENTER twice to memorize the note.
RETRIEVING INFORMATION
To retrieve information, at the DOS prompt type "N.COM" plus one or two
words, or parts of words, to refer to information contained in the note.
Press ENTER, the Simply Ingenious search function is now activated. All notes
using those words will appear on your screen.
For example, type "N SMITH" from the DOS prompt, then ENTER and all notes
containing the word "smith" or "Smith" will appear. Upper and lower case does
not matter. Two search words can be used at once; to find records for Thomas
Smith you can enter "N THOMAS SMITH", or using abbreviated search words to
save keystrokes, "N THO SMI". Abbreviations can also be used in your search
words. For example, if you are looking for a note containing the word
"Williamsburg," ust type "N WIL."
If you are already in Simply Ingenious, all that you need to type is then
words you wish to search for, the ENTER.
To review all your notes sequentially, use the digit "1" as your search
word. Since all records contain "1" in the date, all records will be shown.
Press ENTER twice at any time to return to DOS.
REMOVING NOTES
Find the screen containing the note you want to delete. Hit "e" for
"erase" and a small white letter will appear in front of each note. Touch the
letter associated with the note you wish to remove from "NOTES.FIL." Simply
Ingenious will now isolate the note to be removed in a box and ask, "Delete
the following note?" Hit "y" for YES to do so, or "n" if you have changed
your mind.
AUTOMATIC DIALING
If your computer has a modem attached to COM PORT 1, you can let the
program dial for you. Type "d" for "DIAL" any time there is a phone number
visible on the screen. Each number will be highlighted with a blinking
letter. Touch that letter and Simply Ingenious will dial the number for
you. NOTICE to users without a modem: The Simply Ingenious demo is
configured for a computer with a modem attached to COM1. If you do not
have a modem connected to COM1, use of the DIAL command may terminate
execution of the demo. The full featured version is configured for
use with or without a modem.
We hope that you have enjoyed the Simply Ingenious Demo. To purchase a
fully-functional version of Simply Ingenious for $39.95 (that's $10 off the
regular retail price), call Softdisk Publishing at:
