 Dear BBD:

    I am not a computer whiz!  We purchased our computer a few years ago and
 used the original programs that came with it, but had no idea of what to do
 next.  I read computer books & magazines, but just could not comprehend.  Then
 I saw your ad, and sent (skeptically) for your disk magazine.  It sounded too
 good to be true.  What a difference it has made on my computer!

    I used to spend a few hours a week at my computer, and felt I had made a
 really bad mistake in getting it.  Now, I spend 4-6 hours a night...doing all
 kinds of things.  My husband calls himself the 'Big Blue widower' (he hasn't
 gotten interested in the computer yet.)

    I copy the programs that are of special interest to me to my own disks to
 use (using your copy command....that's really great!) and use these disks
 constantly.  I started to copy all the games I like from Big Blue onto one
 disk.  Then, when I feel like playing, I just choose my game.

    I have run into one problem, however, and need your expertice.  Some games
 use the same file names (ie: LARGCARD.DCK is used in 3 games so far and you
 used SQUARES.EXE for 2 games).  I hesitated...and finally decided to put them
 onto different disks, just in case.  Now I have 3 different disks with games
 because of the LARGCARD.DCK file.  Is this the same file for all the games?
 Could I have used just one file for all three games?  How about the
 SQUARES.EXE program....that must make a difference.

    Would it be possible for you to recheck prior programs on Big Blue and not
 use the same file names?  I am sure there are others out there that do not
 know how to reprogram or rename files so they can be used on the same disks.

    I have so many programs that I use now (through Big Blue, of course) that
 I have just had a hard disk installed, and am trying to figure out how to
 organize my files so I can go to the correct file (such as LARGCARD.DCK). Any
 help you can give me (and others like me) would be greatly appreciated, I'm
 sure.

    I always look forward to receiving my next Big Blue Disk...there is always
 something I can use on each one.  Of course, there are many I don't understand
 or do not wish to use....but you offer such a variety that if I use just one I
 feel it has more than paid for the disk...and if I use three or four (which I
 often do) I have really gotten a bargain!  your inexpensive disks have made my
 major investment really worthwhile.

 ^1>    Thanks for all the kind words!  The LARGCARD.DCK files that are used
 ^1>by 214124 (BBD #31), Hearts (BBD #33), and Poker Slot Machine (BBD #36) are
 ^1>essentially the same file.  We have periodically changed the look of the
 ^1>cards (like the jokers or the back panel artwork), but you can still use
 ^1>any one of the files with all three games.  Actually, you might enjoy using
 ^1>one deck for a while and then replace it every so often with one of the other
 ^1>decks.

 ^1>   The two "SQUARES" programs you refer to appear on BBD #27 and BBD #29.  I
 ^1>recommend that you take the one from issue #29 and change the SQUARES.EXE to
 ^1>SQUARES2.EXE.  You can use the following steps:

 ^1>       1.) Start with a disk/sub-directory that contains neither of the
 ^1>           SQUARES games.
 ^1>       2.) Insert BBD #29 into your floppy disk drive.
 ^1>       3.) Use the "Copy It" command from the Big Blue menu to transfer
 ^1>           "SQUARES" from issue #29 to this disk/sub-directory.
 ^1>       4.) Exit the Big Blue menu system and change the current
 ^1>           drive/sub-directory to the one that contains the files.
 ^1>       5.) Rename this file to SQUARES2.EXE by using the following commands
 ^1>           from the DOS prompt:
 ^1>           ren SQUARES.EXE SQUARES2.EXE
 ^1>       6.) Remove BBD #29 from disk drive and insert BBD #27 in its place.
 ^1>       7.) Use the "Copy It" command from the Big Blue menu to transfer
 ^1>           "SQUARES" from issue #27 to this disk/sub-directory.

    I can't believe you have done this, but you have.  I am actually writing
 you to tell you how pleased I am with my second issue.

    I received in the mail an offer to subscribe to your "software Magazine"
 which I was not familiar with.  I took it upon myself to purchase an issue and
 see just what you had to offer.  To my great surprise you did not overstate
 your case.  In fact you have done a fine job of providing both a little
 entertainment as well as good utility programs to us.

    I was even happier to see that when my subscription started you did not
 send me last month's issue thereby doubling up in my first month.  I am very
 pleased with the "Best of" disk you sent with my first issue.  I like what you
 do and how you do it.  No waiting for a separate package, no stack of issues
 arriving at the same time.  I feel certain we are going to be together for a
 long time.
