  7.    Welcome to Big Blue Disk #30!  This month brings us two more disks just
  8. jammed full of software.  As a matter of fact there is so much material, I am
  9. going to have to keep Diskovery short this month.
  10.  
  11.    As you may have already noticed, Dan Tobias' name no longer heads this
  12. column.  Dan has been the Managing Editor of Big Blue Disk since its inception
  13. two and half years ago.  Recently Dan was offered another opportunity to head a
  14. project that is currently in development.  Feeling the need to stretch his
  15. wings, Dan decided to leave Big Blue Disk.  It was not an easy decision for him
  16. to make, but as we all know change is an important part of life.  Those of us
  17. at Big Blue Disk that have worked with Dan want to wish him the best of luck in
  18. his new endeavors.

  20.    I am excited with what the future holds.  I have been involved with
  21. computers for about eleven years.  I started out programming on an old IBM
  22. System 370 in FORTRAN.  The number of nights I spent at the computer center
  23. with my deck of computer punchcards (that's right, I said deck of computer
  24. punchcards) are more numerous than I want to remember.  Luckily for all of us,
  25. that world has become nothing more than a fond memory. Now I can sit
  26. comfortably in front of my personal computer and have direct access to a
  27. system, maybe not as powerful as a System 370, but a whole lot easier to deal
  28. with.

  30.    With Dan's departure, I am left to fill some very big shoes.  Big Blue Disk
  31. has grown into quite a publication, and we are still growing.  We have tried to
  32. always provide you with the best in software and information.  It has been your
  33. comments and suggestions that have helped us become the magazine we are today.
  34. I want to encourage you to keep writing us and filling out the report cards.
  35. Let us know what we do right and what we do wrong.

  39. P.S.  I thought you might be interested to know that I now use all my old
  40.       punchcards as bookmarks!  I wonder if in ten years I will be using my
  41.       old personal computer as a door stop.  NAHHHHHH!!!?
