  9.    Proto Type is a touch typing tutorial for the experienced typist as well as 
  10. the non typist.  A complete tutorial is provided for persons wishing to acquire 
  11. touch typing skills using the alphabetic and numeric keys.   It is intended to 
  12. step you along through learning how to type; all steps should be self-
  13. explanatory, as everything you need to do will be explained as it comes up.

  15.    The tutorial can be started from the BIG BLUE DISK menu by pressing ENTER 
  16. here, or from DOS by inserting the main Proto Type disk (Disk #3 of the 5 1/4" 
  17. BIG BLUE DISK, or Disk #2 of the 3 1/2" version) in Drive A (unless a hard disk 
  18. is being used) and typing GOPT then pressing the ENTER key.  Do NOT remove the 
  19. diskette while the course is in progress.

  21.    For experienced typists who wish to improve their accuracy and/or increase 
  22. typing speed, a series of typing tests are provided as well as two games: Touch 
  23. Typing Tic-Tac-Toe and Escape.

  25.    The games and exercises can be started by selecting "Run It" under the "Games 
  26. and Exercises" choice on the BIG BLUE DISK menu, by choosing "Games and 
  27. Exercises" while within the tutorial program, or by inserting Disk #2 in drive A 
  28. and typing GAMES, then pressing ENTER.

  30.    In the 5 1/4" version, ProtoType takes up two disks, so you may be asked to 
  31. swap disks while you're running it.  (Now, pay attention, since this may be a 
  32. bit confusing.)  While you're within Proto Type, references to "Disk 1" and 
  33. "Disk 2" refer to disks 1 and 2 of Proto Type, NOT of BIG BLUE DISK.

  35.    For our 5 1/4" disk users, Disk 1 of Proto Type is Disk 3 of BIG BLUE DISK, 
  36. and contains the touch typing tutorial.  Disk 2 of Proto Type is also Disk 2 of 
  37. BIG BLUE DISK, and contains the games and exercises.  For our 3 1/2" disk users, 
  38. all of Proto Type is on Disk 2 of BIG BLUE DISK, and no swaps are needed while 
  39. running it.  The remainder of the issue is on Disk 1.

  41.    To copy Proto Type to a hard disk, use the "Copy It" options for both the 
  42. Main and Games/Exercises items on the menu, and put all files from both into the 
  43. same subdirectory.  Then, Proto Type will run without swapping on the hard disk.

  45.    WARNING:  Proto Type resets the system clock as part of its timing routines.  
  46. If you like to keep the correct system time, be sure to set it again (with the 
  47. DOS "TIME" command or whatever program you use to read the time off a battery-
  48. operated real-time clock board) once you're done running Proto Type.
