INSTRUCTIONS
KHouse Plant Journal will allow you to easily keep track of watering/feeding
Jdates, light requirements, and other inportant information for all of your
plants.
3The following describes the menu options available:
Load File:
LPlant information is stored in a separate data file. This option allows you
Ito read that information into the computer memory for processing. You may
Ihave as many different files as you wish. Each file will hold information
for 150 plants.
EIf you want to create a new file use the Add To File option described
Jlater. If you try to use any of the other options, except for Add To File,
Dwithout first loading a file, you will recieve a Buffer Empty error.
Save File:
IThis allows you to save new or updated information to disk. If the infor-
Kmation in your file is updated or changed in any way it should be saved. If
Kyou try to quit without saving an altered file, the program will remind you
Hand allow you to save it without returning to the menu. Press <Enter> at
Fthe Filename prompt and the filename will default to the current file.
4Press <Enter> To Continue or <Esc> To Return to Menu
Check Today:
IThis option will scan the plant file, comparing the current date with all
Kwater and feed dates. If it finds a plant that is due, or past due, it will
Jprint that plant's record to the screen and ask you if you wish to update.
KIf you have watered/fed the plant, press "U": the next water/feed date will
Lwill automatically be computed and stored in the plant record. If you do not
Iwish to update the record, press <Enter> to look at the next due plant or
E<Esc> to return to the Main Menu, and the record will not be updated.
Look All:
FThis option allows you to print all of your plant records to screen or
Iprinter. If you choose screen as the print destination, you may return to
/the Main Menu at any time by pressing <Escape>.
Look One:
LThis option allows you to look at any one plant record. You will be prompted
Kfor the plant's name. If you can not remember how to spell the name or, for
Hany reason, want to see a list of all the plant names in your file, just
Fpress <Enter> at this prompt and a list will be printed on the screen.
4Press <Enter> To Continue or <Esc> To Return to Menu
Change Entry:
LThis option allows you to edit plant records to correct spelling, change the
Jnumber of days between watering or feeding, or whatever you wish. You will
Lbe prompted for the plant name from the record you wish to edit. As with the
KLook One option, you may press <Enter> for a list of available plant names.
HWhen you enter the plant name, its record will be printed on the screen.
LEach field of the record will be numbered; enter the number of the field you
Jwish to edit. The old line will be printed at the bottom of the window and
Iyou will be prompted to enter the new, edited, line. If you decide not to
Jchange the line, just press <Enter> at this point. Otherwise, the new line
"will be substituted in the record.
Add To File:
KThis option allows you to add new plants to your file or create a new file.
HIf a previous file has not been loaded into memory, you will be asked if
Kyou wish to create a new file. You will be prompted to enter the following:
IPlant Name, Light Requirements, Plant Food, Last Watering Date, Number Of
IDays Between Watering, Last Feeding Date, Number Of Days Between Feeding,
Gand Comments. The next water/feed dates will be entered by the program.
4Press <Enter> To Continue or <Esc> To Return to Menu
Delete From File:
IWe all lose one now and then. This option gets rid of the painful memory.
JYou will be prompted for the plant name (press <Enter> for a list). When a
Frecord is deleted, all following records are shifted up to fill in the
space.
