Transcription: B lymphocytes are cells specialized to respond to antigens. B lymphocytes have surface antibodies that are antigen specific. When the B cell binds with the antigen, the cell undergoes clonal expansion. Some of the progeny become plasma cells that act as antibody factories. Other progeny become memory cells that remain dormant until another exposure to this antigen.
