  25. 1. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  26.  
  27. To run the applications in Corel Office Professional 7, you need 
  28. the following:
  29.  
  30.      - Personal computer with 386DX processor (486 recommended)
  31.      - Microsoft(R) Windows 95 
  32.      - 8 MB RAM (16 MB recommended)
  33.      - Hard disk space*:
  34.          - Envoy only: 7 MB for a complete install
  35.      - VGA Graphics Adapter and monitor
  36.      - Mouse
  37.  
  38. * Disk space requirements vary according to the sector size of
  39.   the hard disk.  The Setup program indicates the correct figure
  40.   for your destination disk.
  41.

  44. 2. COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN ENVOY 1.X AND ENVOY 7
  45.  
  46. Although you can run both Envoy 1.x and Envoy 7 under Windows 95 
  47. and on the same machine, we recommend that you don't.  For best 
  48. results, make sure everyone in your workgroup (all those who will 
  49. share Envoy files) install and use the same version of Envoy.  For 
  50. example, everyone should install and use EITHER Envoy 1.0a OR 
  51. Envoy 7, but not both.
  52.  
  53. Envoy 7 .EVY files created under Windows 95 will open only on 
  54. another system where Envoy 7 is installed.  Envoy Runtime (.EXE) 
  55. files also require Windows 95. Earlier versions of Envoy files 
  56. (1.0 and 1.0a for Windows and for Macintosh) will open in the 
  57. Envoy 7 Viewer, but the reverse is not true.

  61. 3. INSTALLATION
  62.  
  63. To install Envoy on your computer's hard drive,
  64.  
  65. 1.  Select Envoy during the suite installation.
  66.  
  67. 2.  Follow the on-screen prompts.
  68.

  71. 4. INSTALLATION TROUBLESHOOTING
  72.  
  73. 4.1  If Envoy does not function properly after installing on your 
  74. computer's hard drive, check that the following files have been 
  75. installed to the locations listed below.  (Note:  If you have 
  76. chosen Compact installation, some of the files below will not 
  77. appear.  If you have chosen Network installation, the files will 
  78. appear in the network folder you have selected.)
  79.  
  80. Installed in the WINDOWS folder:
  81. WIN.INI:  Driver information
  82.  
  83. Created in the WINDOWS folder the first time you exit Envoy:
  84. EVYPATHS.BIN: A file Envoy creates and uses for hypertext links 
  85. between documents
  86.  
  87. Installed in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder:
  88. *ENVOYD7.DRV: The Envoy printer driver. If the Envoy 7 Driver 
  89. does not appear in your list of available printer drivers after 
  90. you install, restart your computer.
  91. *EVYD7XX.DLL: The language resource file for ENVOYD7.DRV. (XX 
  92. stands for a language code.  Several languages may be installed.)
  93. EVYSH7.DLL: Windows 95 shell extension
  94. EVYSH7XX.DLL: The language resource file for EVYSH7.DLL. (XX 
  95. stands for a language code.  Several languages may be installed.)
  96. *EVYXPI7.DLL: An extended printer interface
  97. *EVYRN7XX.EXE: Lets the Envoy 7 Driver create files with long 
  98. filenames. (XX stands for a language code.  Several languages may 
  99. be installed.)

  101. *These files are not installed if you have not purchased the 
  102. Envoy 7 Driver.  The Envoy Viewer can function without these driver
  103. files.

  105. Installed in the WIN95\START MENU under Corel Office 7:
  106. ENVOY 7: The Envoy Viewer icon found on the Start menu
  107.  
  108. Installed in the OFFICE7\ENVOY7 folder:
  109. DVSETUP7.EXE: The file used to copy the Distributable Viewer
  110. ENVOY7.EXE: The Envoy Viewer
  111. EVY7XX.TXT: This release notes file, in ASCII text format (XX 
  112. stands for a language code.  Several languages may be installed.)
  113. EVYDSTXX.TXT: Release notes file for the Distributable Viewer. 
  114. (XX stands for a language code.  Several languages may be 
  115. installed.)
  116. EVYLCDXX.TXT: The licensing agreement for the Distributable 
  117. Viewer. (XX stands for a language code.  Several languages may be 
  118. installed.)
  119. ENVOY7\SYSTEM: A folder that contains system files for Envoy 7
  120. ENVOY7\SPOOL: An empty folder used as a destination for spooling 
  121. multiple .EVY documents from the Envoy Driver
  122.  
  123. Installed in the ENVOY7\SYSTEM folder:
  124. DVRES7XX.DLL: The Envoy Printer Driver resources.  (XX stands 
  125. for a language code.  Several languages may be installed.)
  126. ENVOY7.EX_: ENVOY.EXE before decompression, which is used to 
  127. build Runtime Viewers 
  128. EVY7XX.DL_: EVY7XX.DLL before decompression.  (XX stands for a 
  129. language code.  Several languages may be installed.)
  130. EVY7XX.DLL: The Envoy Viewer language resources. (XX stands for 
  131. a language code.  Several languages may be installed.) 
  132. EVYGW7.EXE:  A file that makes it possible to send Envoy files 
  133. using GroupWise e-mail
  134. EVYPKG7: The Envoy packager stub, which is used to build Runtime 
  135. Viewers 
  136. EVYPRINT.INF: A file that makes it possible to install ENVOY7.DRV 
  137. using the Windows 95 Add Printer Wizard.  See "Envoy 7 Driver"
  138. under Section 5, "General Troubleshooting."  
  139. EVYR7XX.HL_: The Envoy Runtime Viewer online Help file before 
  140. decompression. (XX stands for a language code.  Several languages 
  141. may be installed.)
  142. EVYXH7.DLL: A file necessary to create Web links and to use 
  143. Help Online
  144. EVYXH7XX.DLL: Language resource file for EVYXH7.DLL. (XX stands 
  145. for a language code.  Several languages may be installed.)

  147. Installed in the ENVOY\SAMPLES folder:
  148. EVY7US.EVY: A user's guide for Envoy that takes you step-by-step 
  149. through several common Envoy tasks
  150. *.EVY: Sample files you need in order to complete the lessons in 
  151. the user's guide

  153. C:\MYFILES: A folder where you can save .EVY and .EXE files that 
  154. you create. You will need this folder to complete the lessons in 
  155. the user's guide.

  157. If you have performed a custom or typical install, the following
  158. browse web files are installed in the OFFICE7\SHARED\PFIT7 folder:
  159. BRSWEBXX.DLL: A file needed to browse the World Wide Web and use
  160. Help Online. (XX stands for a language code.  Several languages 
  161. may be installed.)
  162. BRWSWBXX.DLL: Lanuage resources for BRSWEBXX.DLL. (XX stands for 
  163. a language code.  Several languages may be installed.)

  165. If you have performed a custom or typical suite install, the 
  166. following Help files are installed in the OFFICE7\SHARED\HELP7 
  167. folder:
  168. EVY7XX.CNT: The Contents page for the Help file. (XX stands for 
  169. a language code.  Several languages may be installed.)
  170. EVY7XX.HLP: The Envoy online Help file. (XX stands for a 
  171. language code. Several languages may be installed.)

  173. EVY7US.NLI: A file necessary to find Envoy information using 
  174. Ask the Perfect Expert in other Corel Office Professional 7 
  175. applications.

  179. 4.2 RUNTIME VIEWER FILES
  180. When you open an Envoy runtime file on a machine where Envoy has 
  181. not been installed, the following files are created in the 
  182. Windows folder (for example, C:\WINDOWS):
  183. EVYRTE7.EXE
  184. EVYRTD7.DLL
  185. EVYR7XX.HLP
  186.  
  187. The first time the help file is opened, two more files are 
  188. created:
  189. EVYRTH7.FTS
  190. EVYRTH7.GID
  191.

  194. 5. GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING
  195.  
  196. For detailed information about using Envoy, see online Help and 
  197. the user's guide (EVY7US.EVY).  If you have installed Netscape
  198. Navigator(TM), you can also find current information on Envoy 
  199. (such as Tips and Tricks) by clicking Help Online on the Envoy 
  200. Help menu. The following are suggestions for troubleshooting 
  201. possible situations you may encounter in the course of using 
  202. Envoy 7 on Windows 95.
  203.

  205.  
  206. 5.1  Compact Install:
  207.  
  208. If you have chosen the Compact install option for Envoy, you will 
  209. not have access to the following Envoy features:
  210.  
  211. 1. Explorer preview of .evy 
  212. 2. Import File (see the paragraph below)
  213. 3. Web Links 
  214. 4. Help Online
  215. 5. Send 
  216. 6. Distributable Viewer Setup 
  217. 7. Save As Runtime (see the paragraph below)
  218.  
  219. COMPACT INSTALLATION UNABLE TO IMPORT FILES OR SAVE AS RUNTIME
  220. If you have performed a Compact install, you may receive the 
  221. following error message when you try to import a file:  "The 
  222. Envoy Driver cannot be loaded.  The Envoy document has not been 
  223. created." 
  224.  
  225. To solve this problem, you can try one of the two following 
  226. solutions:
  227.  
  228. Solution 1.  Open the document in the source application and 
  229. print it to the Envoy Driver.
  230.  
  231. Solution 2.  Install Typical or Custom; or run Envoy either from 
  232. a network or from the Applications Disc.
  233.  
  234. Also, if you try to use the Save as Runtime Viewer option with a 
  235. Compact installation, you may receive this error message: "An 
  236. error occurred while saving the file *.exe.  Unknown error."  To 
  237. solve this problem, use Solution 2 above.
  238.  
  239. ---------------------------------------------
  240.  
  241. 5.2  Envoy Viewer:
  242.  
  243. SWITCHING LANGUAGES FOR THE ENVOY 7 VIEWER
  244. If you have installed more than one language for Envoy and you 
  245. want to switch often between languages, you can use the /L=? 
  246. startup option. This option brings up the language dialog box 
  247. every time you start the Envoy 7 Viewer.  To use this option,
  248.  
  249. 1.  Right-click the Start button on the Windows 95 taskbar, then 
  250. click Open.
  251.  
  252. 2.  Double-click Corel Office 7.
  253.  
  254. 3.  Right-click Envoy 7, then click Properties.
  255.  
  256. 4.  Click the Shortcut tab.
  257.  
  258. 5.  In the Target text box, type the path where you have 
  259. installed Envoy 7, then add a space and /L=? to the end. For 
  260. example: 
  261.         C:\Corel\Office7\Envoy7\Envoy7.exe /L=?
  262.  
  263. PAGES OR THUMBNAILS ARE SLOW TO REDRAW AND DISPLAY IN THE VIEWER
  264. Most often, Envoy displays document pages quickly.  The speed 
  265. with which Envoy displays pages might be decreased by the 
  266. following: 
  267.  
  268. 1) The document file is being read from slow media, such as a 
  269. floppy disk or a CD-ROM drive.  Display time can be improved by 
  270. moving  the documents to a local hard drive. 
  271. 2) The document includes a large color bitmap image.  Display 
  272. time can be
  273. improved by choosing a lower Custom Bitmap Resolution and/or 
  274. reducing the color depth of the bitmap to 256 or 16 colors, then 
  275. printing again to the Envoy Printer Driver. 
  276. 3) The document includes an intricate graphic image.  Display 
  277. time can be improved either by removing some of the more complex 
  278. graphic elements or by replacing with a simpler graphic before 
  279. printing to the Envoy Printer Driver. 
  280.  
  281. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LARGE DOCUMENTS
  282. If you are going to create an Envoy document in Windows 95 with 
  283. a large number of bitmaps, increase your system's RAM as much as 
  284. possible. This will greatly decrease save time and the 
  285. possibility of errors.  
  286.  
  287. You may also want to divide a large file into several smaller 
  288. Envoy files, then link them with cross-document hypertext links. 
  289. See online Help for details.
  290.  
  291. IMPORTING FILES INTO VIEWER/DRAG-AND-DROP FILES ONTO VIEWER
  292. Many 16-bit applications (designed to run under earlier versions 
  293. of Windows) and some 32-bit applications (designed to run under 
  294. Windows 95) do not support converting their files to the .EVY 
  295. format by importing files into the Envoy Viewer or by drag-and-
  296. drop.  In order for these features to work with a file from a 
  297. particular application, that application must have registered 
  298. itself into the Windows Registration Database and must support 
  299. printing through Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE). 
  300.  
  301. To test whether an application supports these Envoy features, 
  302. drag a file onto the Windows Printers folder; if the file does 
  303. not print, then the application does not support these features. 
  304. In such a case, launch the application and print the files to 
  305. the Envoy 7 Driver.
  306.  
  307. NOTE: You cannot create Envoy 7 files unless you have the 
  308. Envoy 7 Driver.  If you have the Envoy 7 Viewer but not the 
  309. Driver, the Import File feature does not work. 
  310.  
  311. VIEWER EITHER DOES NOT LAUNCH OR LAUNCHES EMPTY AFTER PRINTING 
  312. DOCUMENT TO DRIVER
  313. This situation is usually caused by lack of memory resources to 
  314. support running both the printing application and the Envoy 7 
  315. Viewer simultaneously. 
  316.  
  317. The solution to this problem is one of the following: 
  318. 1) increase the Virtual Memory swap file size in the Windows 
  319. Control Panel;
  320. 2) select the "Save as Envoy File" option in the Envoy 7 Driver 
  321. dialog box, print the document to file, quit the printing 
  322. application, then launch the Envoy Viewer and open the file; 
  323. 3) reduce the file size of the file you are printing to the 
  324. Envoy 7 Driver.  See Envoy online Help for instructions on 
  325. making files smaller.
  326.  
  327. LAUNCH VIEWER, SEE ERROR MESSAGE "CANNOT FIND LANGUAGE 
  328. RESOURCES..."
  329. The language resources DLL either was not installed properly or 
  330. was removed from the ENVOY7\SYSTEM folder.  Either copy a new 
  331. language DLL (such as EVY7US.DLL) into the folder or reinstall 
  332. Envoy.

  334.  
  335. OPEN PRINT DIALOG BOX, SEE ERROR MESSAGE "CANNOT FIND LANGUAGE 
  336. RESOURCES..."
  337. The language resources DLL either was not installed properly or 
  338. was removed from the WIN95\SYSTEM folder.  Either copy a new 
  339. language DLL (such as EVYD7US.DLL) into the folder or 
  340. reinstall Envoy.
  341.  
  342. TOOLBAR COLORS IN WINDOWS
  343. The colors of the Toolbar icons on the Envoy 7 Viewer for Windows 
  344. can be affected by changing the color settings in the Windows 
  345. Control Panel. If the Toolbar colors look strange, change the 
  346. color settings.
  347.

  350. 5.3  Envoy Runtime Viewer:
  351.  
  352. RECIPIENT OF Runtime Viewer IS UNABLE TO LAUNCH VIEWER
  353. A runtime file created with Envoy 7 will open only on another 
  354. system running Windows 95.  All Envoy runtime files are 
  355. platform-dependent. If a runtime file does not open, check to 
  356. make sure that the recipient is using the same operating system 
  357. that was used to create the Runtime Viewer. 
  358.  
  359. SENDING A RUNTIME FILE BY E-MAIL
  360. If you send a runtime file through e-mail using the File>Send 
  361. feature in the Envoy Viewer, the file is sent as an .EVY file. 
  362. In order to send a runtime file as an .EXE file, start from 
  363. e-mail and  attach the runtime .EXE file.
  364.  
  365. ROTATED TEXT
  366. Some Windows applications print rotated text as a bitmap image. 
  367. The  result is that (1) the text cannot be selected using the 
  368. text selection cursor and (2) the bitmap image may be jagged. 
  369. Increase the bitmap resolution in the Envoy Driver Custom 
  370. Settings dialog box to  improve the visual quality of the
  371. rotated text.  See online Help for details on changing bitmap 
  372. resolution.

  374. GRADIENTS
  375. Most gradients will appear as a series of solid colors in Envoy.  
  376. For best results, produce documents with solid colors rather than 
  377. gradients.

  381. 5.4 Envoy 7 Driver
  382.  
  383. RUNNING ENVOY UNDER NT 3.51/4
  384. The Envoy 7 Driver does not function on an NT client.  The 
  385. Envoy 7 Viewer functions normally under NT.
  386.  
  387. ADDING THE ENVOY 7 DRIVER TO YOUR LIST OF PRINTER DRIVERS
  388. If the Envoy 7 Driver does not appear on your list of available 
  389. printer drivers, first restart your computer.  If it still does
  390. not appear, try reinstalling Envoy.
  391.  
  392. If you prefer not to reinstall, you (or your system administrator)
  393. can restore the Envoy 7 Driver using the EVYPRINT.INF file.  
  394. To do this, 
  395.  
  396. 1. Copy all the Envoy files from the Windows\System folder into the 
  397. Envoy7\System folder.
  398.  
  399. 2. Read the comments in the EVYPRINT.INF file and make changes to 
  400. the file to match the configuration of your individual system.
  401.  
  402. 3. Run the Add Printer Wizard, then select Local Printer.
  403.  
  404. 4. Select Have Disk, then browse to find your EVYPRINT.INF file.
  405.  
  406. 5. Select the EVY port.
  407.

  410. 6. BITSTREAM TRUEDOC FONT EMBEDDING
  411.  
  412. Envoy 7 uses Bitstream(R) TrueDoc(TM) portable font technology, 
  413. copyright 1994-95 Bitstream, Inc.
  414.  
  415. Because the Envoy 7 font embedding technology is different from 
  416. that used in Envoy 1.0a, fonts embedded with Envoy 1.0a will not 
  417. view as embedded fonts in the Envoy 7 Viewer.  They will be 
  418. handled with the Envoy  "intelligent font mapping" instead.
