Project 3 v0.01a
by
Boris Sheikman
What is Project 3?
------------------
Simply put, it is character based, windows environment that can play VOCs and
MOD files written in 492 lines of Turbo Pascal 6.0. Currently though, the MOD
section of theprogram has not been made yet, and probably wont be for a very
long time, or at least until I figure out how to do it.
System Requirements
-------------------
You don't really need much of computer to run this version of Project 3. You do
however need to have plenty Upper/High Memory available; around 140k (this
gives room for the future). To be able to shell to Blaster Master you need to
load this program high using this command:
LoadHigh Project3
Otherwise you will not have enough memory. Loading it high will give you the
advantage to load bigger VOCs to play. You also need a Sound Blaster/Sound
Blaster Pro or compatable card. It wont work without one. This program was
written using a Sound Blaster Pro. I have no idea if it works with a regular
SB, SB 16 ASP, or any other compatable. I would like input on it.
A mouse is recommended, but not required. You can always use the keyboard
hotkeys.
How To Run
----------
Just copy the following files into your Blaster Master directory:
Project3.Exe
Voc-Hdr.Exe (Optional)
Ct-Voice.DRV
Then execute Project 3 like this:
LoadHigh Project3
If you dont, you wont have enough RAM for Blaster Master.
This program does not require Blaster Master or VOC-HDR to run. It just helps.
Operation
---------
As mentioned above, you can use a keyboard with this program. I'm sure that the
greater majority of you do have a mouse, so this shouldnt be problem. For
keyboard users, press ALT and the red letter of the menu bar on top of the
screen to access the menu. Then you may use the arrow keys to move the
selection bar up or down to select the option. You may also press the letter of
the option you want that is in red, or use the hot key that is stated next to
the option. Users of Borland IDEs will find this a very familiar environment.
If you dont have a mouse, please go out and get one! You can get a good quality
serial mouse for around $15.
The VOC Menu
------------
Under the VOC menu:
Load VOC - Loads a VOC. If you use a hard drive cache, the status window will
blink right by you.
Play VOC - Plays the VOC, giving you a small status display of the VOC. Press
any key to stop it.
Phase Shift - What does this do?? This option will take a stereo VOC file,
shift it by 60 ms over and mix it in with the original VOC to produce a
raw stereo sample. This is something like the ECHO function, except
that it doesnt fade out.
Run VOC-HDR - This option allows you to convert the raw stereo sample created
by Phase Shift option to a standard stereo VOC, without exiting the
program.
Run Blaster Master - This will shell to Blaster Master so you may edit the
Phase Shifted VOC. Blaster Master supports many Digital effects to
enchance VOC files
Exit - Pretty obvious what this does. Just remember that pressing ESC anywhere
during the program, even when playing VOC files, you will be hurled
back into DOS without any warning.
Status Line
-----------
The last line of the screen is called the status line. It displays hot-keys for
loading and playing VOC files. You may use the mouse to click on these items
instead of doing it through the main menu.
Legal Junk
----------
This program is not CopyWrited, as I can not afford a patent on this. I ask you
not to disassemble this program, hack it, or virus it. It really isnt worth the
trouble. Please dont hack this program. You'll just be disappointed with it, as
it really does stink more or less. I'm not giving out the source code either.
Liability
--------
By using this program, you do so at your own. If this program formats your hard
drive, clears your CMOS, and burns out all your cards because of a bug, sorry.
I am not responsible for any damage inflicted by the program. I do not make any
guarentees that this program will even work on your computer.
Shareware?
----------
No, FreeWare, at least for now.
