  2. This MM version of Pro AudioSpectrum & MPC Digest requires
  3. an MPC compatible computer... in other words, at least a
  4. 386/SX, 256 color VGA and a sound card compatible with
  5. Windows 3.1 or Windows 3.0 with MM extensions. THIS PROGRAM
  6. WILL ONLY RUN IN WINDOWS!!

  8. You also have to have the following files...
  9. PLAYACT.ZIP or preferrably PLACT2.ZIP
  10. PASFNTS7.ZIP
  11. PFNTUD??.ZIP where ?? is the issue #. You should have ALL update
  12. font files as we use some over and over from month to month.
  13. If you did not get these files, you need to call back to the 
  14. bbs you got this from and download those files. If they aren't
  15. there, please call the support bbs at 206-957-1112 and log on
  16. as P A S (use the spaces) with a password of MPC. You will 
  17. be able to get the files from directory 68. Also, PLEASE leave
  18. me a message (Comment to SysOp) and tell me where you got 
  19. this file and that the others are not present so I can 
  20. upload them.

  22. You will need to change your MIDI Mapper for this magazine.
  23. You should be running the extended configuration. This is the one
  24. that has PAS OPL3 Driver or FM Synth set to channels 1-10 and 13-16. 
  25. Then set the destination channel of 10 to 16.
  26. If you do not have this setup, you will have to create it. Just click on New 
  27. and then set the port properly. Set channels 1-10 and 13-16 to FM Synth
  28. or OPL3 Synth or something like that. It HAS to be the synth. There 
  29. were several names for this, so you need to figure that part out.

  31. Instructions for using Playact, the multimedia player and playing 
  32. PASMMXX.ACP.

  34. PLAYACT.EXE is the file you will use to play the multimedia
  35. version of Pro AudioSpectrum & MPC Digest. It is very simple
  36. to use. Here are some quick instructions.

  38. In 1024X768 mode, you will not need to do anything but use
  39. run from Program Manager (or whatever shell you happen to be
  40. using) and type in PLAYACT.EXE. When the program comes up,
  41. you will choose file and then open and then type in
  42. PASMMxx.ACP. After that, all you have to do is just push the
  43. right arrow on the VCR control panel and away you go. There
  44. are always buttons at the bottom of each scene to make
  45. choices with. Please keep in mind that these buttons will
  46. not work if you have pushed stop on the controls. You will
  47. need to start again to use the buttons. If you didn't
  48. download the font files you can still view the
  49. digest. Some of the type may be wrong and the centering may
  50. be off, but all should still work ok. If you push a button
  51. on the main menu and nothing happens it is because that
  52. particular catagory has nothing in it this month.

  54. 800X600 users can basically follow the 1024 instructions
  55. except that you may want to choose WINDOW and then FULL
  56. SCREEN to get rid of the menu lines so the VCR control won't
  57. be in the way of the stage. You will still be able to access
  58. these funtions by just moving your cursor to the top of the
  59. screen where the menu item was and clicking.

  61. 640X480 users need to both run full screen AND need to close
  62. the VCR control panel in order to view the full screen. Keep
  63. in mind that at this resolution, everything is going to look
  64. BIG.

  66. Since this version has been created in 256 color mode, 16
  67. color users may find some of the type hard to read. We chose
  68. to use 256 color so our readers could enjoy it more. If
  69. there is enough demand, we will make a 16 color version
  70. also.
