---------- ---------------------------------------------- -----------
Inductive Logic
P.O. Box 26238
San Diego, CA 92196
(619) 578-5146
License Agreement
-----------------
This software is fully protected by federal copyright law. This
agreement allows you to copy and use the software for a 60 day trial
period. After that time, if you continue to use the software,
federal copyright law requires you to register it. To register, send
$35 (U.S. funds) to Inductive Logic at the address above.
Registration also eliminates the registration reminder text,
guarantees you the newest version of the software, a nicely printed
manual, and a place on our mailing list to inform you of updates
and other product information.
Inductive Logic is a member of the Association of Shareware
Professionals (ASP). ASP wants to make sure that the shareware
principle works for you. If you are unable to resolve a
shareware-related problem with an ASP member by contacting the member
directly, ASP may be able to help. The ASP Ombudsman can help you
resolve a dispute or problem with an ASP member, but does not provide
technical support for members' products. Please write to the ASP
Ombudsman at 545 Grover Road, Muskegon, MI 49442 or send a CompuServe
message via CompuServe Mail to ASP Ombudsman 70007,3536.
Installation
------------
System Requirements: DOS 3.0 or higher, 256K RAM, hard disk.
This is the freely distributed version of InCommand (though the software is
NOT free; see License Agreement, above).
To install from an Inductive Logic floppy disk:
-----------------------------------------------
A: (assuming your drive is A:. Use your own drive, if not A:)
INSTALL
To install from the INCOMAND.EXE self-extracting file:
------------------------------------------------------
If you're reading this file, you've probably already run the self
extracting file INCOMAND.EXE. If so, then you've already done steps
1-3 below, so skip to step 4.
1. Copy INCOMAND.EXE to an empty directory on your hard drive
(we suggest C:\IL)
2. CD to that directory
3. Type INCOMAND (this will extract all the InCommand files)
4. Type INSTALL (this is required!)
Note that you MUST run INSTALL, as simply putting the IL directory in your
path will NOT work.
Getting Started
---------------
All of the manual is available on-line with the IHELP command. Just type
IHELP and follow the directions. Read the TUTORIAL topic in IHELP for a
fast, simple introduction.
Printing the Manual
-------------------
A complete manual is ready for printing in the file INCOMAND.PRN. This file
should print on any text-mode printer (e.g., laser, dot matrix). If your
printer is on the standard printer port, you can print it by typing:
COPY INCOMAND.PRN PRN
Registration
------------
To register your software, and receive the latest version and printed
manual, simply print out the REGISTER.TXT file from the IL directory, fill
it out, include your check, and mail it to us.
Customer Support
----------------
You may send registration, questions, or comments to the address above, or
call any time. Type IHELP CUSTOMER for an on-line view of the following
*important* information for getting help with any problems:
Customer support is available by mail or phone. If you have any
questions about our products, you can mail them to us, or call us.
When you call, you may get an answering machine. If so, please leave
a message with (1) your name, (2) the date and time you called, (3)
your time zone, (4) phone number, (5) product registration number
(from your license agreement, if you are registered), and (6) the
best time to reach you (so we don't play extended telephone tag).
Then (7) describe your question. We will get back to you.
Please be sure to leave all 7 items listed here, or we may not be
able to return your call. You can write/call us at the address
above.
Release Notes
-------------
MOVEDIR
-------
Because of a bug in DOS's FASTOPEN function, if you use FASTOPEN, your
computer can lock up after using MOVEDIR. We have never seen a loss of data
from this, but you must reboot to clear the lock up. Therefore, like other
utility vendors (including Norton), we recommend that you do NOT use the DOS
FASTOPEN utility. You can use DOS's SMARTDRV.SYS to provide the speed
benefits of FASTOPEN, and then some, with no risk of locking up.
