OCR: Problems with speed or memory P.B. Bear's Birthday Party uses a large amount of your system memory to display illustrations and run animations. If it does not have access to enough memory, P.B. Bear's Birthday Party will run slowly or produce out-of- memory errors. In such cases, the Following suggestions may help to improve the program's performance: 1. Shut down any other applications you are running. 2. P.B. Bear's Birthday Party needs a minimum of 4MB of memory. Find out how much memory your computer has available by shutting down any open applications and then typing MEM and pressing enter at the DOS prompt. If it has less than 4MB of memory, you will not be able to run P.B. Bear's Birthday Party properly until you add more extended memory. 3. If you are running Windows in Enhanced mode, set up a permanent Windows swap file of at least 4096K on your hard disk. Windows usually creates a temporary swap file, but this may be unavailable if your disk is full or fragmented. Consult your Windows documentation for more information. 4. Run a defragmentation program to clean up your hard disk. 5. Check your CD-ROM drive documentation to make sure that it is MPC-compatible. An MPC level 1 compatible drive is defined as having an average seek time of less than one second and can transfer data from the compact disc at 150K per second while using less than 40% of the CPU bandwidth.
