  1. An ethnic-based grouping of successful businessmen.  Essentially a commercial grouping with an eye towards promoting the advancement of Chinese culture.  This was evident in the form of past dignitaries who graced SCCC such as Tan Kah Kee and Tan Lark Sye etc.  In 1962,  the SCCC led an investigation into the number of Chinese people killed during the Japanese Occupation.
