OCR: EXCAVATION NOTES FOR EDMONTONIA A DINOSAUR THAT LIVED 74-72 MYA (MILLION YEARS AGO) EDMONTONIA : MISSING BONES Scapula Mandible Femur Radius and ulna Read the following description carefully to help you to find Edmontonia's missing bones. Use the SCAN button to date the bones that you find buried in the three tunnels. Compare the date of the bones that you find with the date of the dinosaur bones that you are looking for. Edmontonia was a barrel-bodied quadrupedal (four-legged) herbivore (plant-eater) that lived approximately 74-72 MYA (million years ago), during the Cretaceous Period. Protective armor covered this large ornithischian ("bird-hipped") dinosaur. Large, bony plates protected the neck and shoulders, and small, ridged plates covered the back, hips, and tail. Long, bony, forward-angled spikes stuck out from the animal's sides, defending the powerful shoulders. The pillarlike limbs were strong and sturdy. Edmontonia had a sheeplike skull, which was covered with fused bony plates (no doubt to provide extra protection). The mouth was narrow, probably with cheek pouches for storing food. The cheek teeth were ridged, with leaf -shaped crowns. DINOSAUR FACTS Dinosaurs lived on Earth within the following three time periods: TRIASSIC PERIOD 248-208 MYA (million years ago) JURASSIC PERIOD 208-144 MYA (million years ago) CRETACEOUS PERIOD 144-65 MYA (million years ago) Compare these typical dinosaur features with the bones that you find in the Dinosaur Excavation Site.
