OCR: X SAFETY IN NUMBERS Late in the Age of Dinosaurs, a group of Pteranodon begins to collect on a sea cliff. Probably clumsy when grounded, these vulnerable creatures felt safe to roost or raise young only on islands, deserts, or other places out of reach of their hungry cousins, the dinosaurs. Like some seabirds, nesting pterosaurs also seem to have sought safety in numbers. Fossil bones of thousands of pterosaurs found in a Chilean desert hint at an immense colony overwhelmed by a flood about 110 million years ago.
