OCR: x VULNERABLE YOUNG Maiasaura ("good mother lizard") was a hadrosaur or duck-billed dinosaur that seems to have roamed in mixed-age herds. The young quite likely stayed with their parents while they grew up. This happened surprisingly fast. By studying the cells in fossil hadrosaur bones, scientists can tell that such dinosaurs reached a large size much more quickly than any reptiles alive today. It took only eight years for a chicken-sized Maiasaura hatchling to become a monster long enough to block the mouth of a soccer goal, if it were alive today.
