Swimming along under water and darting its head from side to side, it could snap up anything within range of its very long neck. Another possible strategy was lying on the sea bed and ambushing fish that swam by. Either way, it had to swim up to breathe. Alternatively, it might have swum at the surface, now and then plunging its head under water like a heron to capture a fish.
