OCR: HENRY NORRIS RUSSELL HENRY NORRIS RUSSELL was an American astronomer who S constructed a graph that linked two important properties of stars. He plotted the absolute magnitudes of stars against their spectral types (classification according to temperature), establishing a true relationship between these two properties. Russell saw how the stars formed two main groups on the graph, and these became the basis of his theory of the evolution of stars. The graph, known today as the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, was jointly named for Ejnar Hertzsprung (1873-1967). (1877-1957) A-Z. SEE LIFE NEXT ALSO STORY
