OCR: YELENA KONDAKOVA (DATES UNAVAILABLE) YELENA KONDAKOVA is a Russian cosmonaut who returned to Earth from space in March 1995 after setting a new endurance record for a woman in space. (She had spent 6 months aboard the Mir space station.) Kondakova is the third Russian woman to be sent into space. Valentina Tereshkova (1937- ) was the first, in 1963, followed by Svetlana Savitskaya (1948- ) who made two trips, in 1982 and 1984.
