OCR: 1629 Born on April 14 in The Hague, The Netherlands. 1645 After receiving his early education at home, Huygens attends the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, where he studies mathematics and law. He finishes his formal education by studying law at the College of Breda, Italy, for 2 years. 1651 Returns to the family home and lives on an allowance from his father for the next 16 years. This enables him to concentrate on his scientific studies. 1650s With his brother Constantijn, Huygens grinds and polishes lenses and makes telescopes that are the best of their time.
