This theory offered a new way of thinking about space, time, and the Universe. From it comes the equally famous equation relating mass and energy, E = mc2 (where E equals energy, m equals mass, and c is the constant speed of light in a vacuum). His later General Theory of Relativity proposed that gravity is a consequence of the warping of space-time caused by the mass of objects.
