OCR: ARTHUR C. CLARKE ARTHUR C. CLARKE is the English science-fiction writer who is recognized as the father of global satellite communications. In October 1945 his ideas on the concept of communication by satellite appeared in a magazine called Wireless World. It was 20 years before his ideas became a reality, with live television pictures broadcast around the world and instant international calls becoming available to anyone with a telephone.
