OCR: (1930- ) BUZZ ALDRIN was the second person ever to walk on the Moon. On the Sunday evening of July 20, 1969, the control center at Houston, Texas, watched Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong (1930- ) step on to the Moon (the first person ever to do so), followed 19 minutes later by Buzz Aldrin. The two astronauts spent 22 hours on the Moon. Just over 21/2 hours of that time was spent walking on the lunar surface. The crew of Apollo 11 arrived back on Earth on July 24, 1969. 1930 Born Edwin (later changed to Buzz) Eugene Aldrin on January 20 at Montclair, New Jersey 1951 Completes his degree at US Military Academy at West Point, New York.
