OCR: STAR BRIGHTNESS THE BRIGHTNESS of a celestial object MAGNITUDE is the intensity of visible light it TYPES radiates. It is measured in magnitudes: the lower the magnitude number, the brighter the object. Apparent magnitude measures the brightness of a celestial object as seen from the Earth: the more distant the object, the farther its light travels, the more it spreads out, and the fainter the object appears. Absolute magnitude measures the brightness that would be observed if the object was a standard distance of 32.6 light years away. BRIGHTEST WHAT DETERMINES FACT STARS BRIGHTNESS? FILE
