OCR: FACT FILE .................... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . WHEN YOU LOOK at the night sky, stars seem to twinkle, or change in brightness from one moment to the next. This twinkling is caused by the movement of air in the Earth's atmosphere. In the same way that a glass bends light, the air bends starlight. As different regions of air move by varying amounts, the light from a star is bent by different amounts. This causes the strength of radiated light from the star that hits your eye to vary, making the star seem to twinkle.
