OCR: BRIGHT NEBULAS THERE ARE TWO main types of bright nebulas: emission and reflection, both of which are associated with star birth. The gases of an emission nebula glow, mainly in the red or green part of the spectrum, because they are heated by hot young stars inside the nebula. And light from young stars in or around a reflection nebula is scattered by the nebula's dust. There are two other types of bright nebulas: supernova remnants and planetary nebulas. Both consist of material thrown off by dying stars. THE TRIFID NEBULA This nebula is an unusual combination of a pink emission nebula and a blue PLANETARY SUPERNOVA FACT reflection nebula.
