OCR: FACT FILE .................... ... . .. . . . . . . . . .. . .. PULSARS ARE rotating neutron stars that emit beams of radio waves, which may be detected on Earth as a pulse. The pulse rate matches the pulsar's rate of spin. Slow-spinning pulsars spin about once every 4 seconds. Fast-spinning pulsars spin about 30 times a second. Binary pulsars, each of which exist in an orbital system with a companion star, spin at up to 1,000 times a second. Some pulsars emit intense X-rays and visible light as well as radio waves.
