OCR: CALORIS BASIN THE CALORIS BASIN, at 1,300 km (800 Site of impact miles) across, is the largest impact basin to be discovered on Mercury. It is surrounded by concentric rings of mountains thrown up by an enormous impact. The floor of the basin has been largely filled with solidified lava, and is heavily marked by smaller, younger, craters.
