  6.      We all know that the government listens in on just about everything we
  7. do.  So why shouldn't you listen in on the government?
  8.      The following is a list of CIA and foreign classified radio frequencies
  9. including call sign, and times of best access.  A short wave receiver is
  10. almost always necessary especially with the CIA.

  12. CIA (CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY)
  13.  
  14.      Due to the sensitive nature of this super-secret branch of the US govern-
  15. ment, information regarding radio communication facilities is very scarce.
  16. The listing below is a combination of ITU data and off-the-air monitoring.
  17. According to the ITU, a power of 15 kilowatts is used for both CW and RSR/RTTY

  33. SPY AND NUMBERS STATIONS

  35.      Nothing you can hear on short wave quite equals the cloak and dagger
  36. intrigue of the so-called "Spy and Numbers" stations.  As incredible as it may
  37. sound, the ordinary listener with modest equipment can hear signals intended
  38. to convey vital information to spies, guerilla fighters, and every consider-
  39. able type of underground clandestine political organziation.
  40.      The majority of radio stations broadcasting such signals do so using
  41. regular AM.  The trick is the spacial numeral code groups -- apparently
  42. changed with every transmission.  Sophisticated techniques are becoming more
  43. common including compressed CW send at speeds of 200 words per minute for tape
  44. recording (it's reliably reported that Radio Berlin International transmits
  45. compressed CW at various times during regular programming).  Obviously no ID
  46. is given by the broadcaster and the "spy" is usually the only one who knows
  47. what to listen to in terms of positive ID.
  48.      The list below contains some of the more frequently heard stations at the
  49. time of the publication of this file (1-20-86).  Frequencies and schedules are
  50. subject to erratic and sudden changes.

  65.      I hope you get as much information from these stations as I have, and
  66. remember that certain people tend to frown on eavesdroppers so exercise some
  67. caution.
