  19.           Teen Hacker Taps Into Network Send Teachers `Rude' Messages

  23.         A teenage hacker infiltrated a computer network at least 20 times in
  24. the past two months with obscene messages to teachers across the United States
  25. and Canada, the Peel Board of Education says.
  26.         "The kid broke into this around Dec. 15 and what he was doing, which
  27. less than amusing, was ... sending out really rude messages," board chairman
  28. Carolyn Parrish said yesterday.
  29.         The main computer for international network, called CHIMO, is at the
  30. board's Mississauga office.
  31.         "It was a little embarrassing.  Obvisously we had to shut it down for a
  32. while," she said.
  33.         About 900 teachers from Vancouver to Newfoundland and south to Texas
  34. were using the computer network when messages started appearing.
  35.         Using his home computer, the youth discovered the passwords of several
  36. teachers and left "alarming" notes in their electronic mailboxes.  Peel police
  37. Sergeant John rennie said yesterday.
  38.         Police would not say how they caught the suspect because that would
  39. be submitted in court as evidence.
  40.         A 17 year old Morningstar Secondary School in Mississauga has been
  41. charged with 10 counts of unlawful use of a computer.  He cannot be named under
  42. the Young Offenders Act.
