  22. This file isn't "How to use a diverter",
  23. it's more like "how to get lots of them
  24. as fast as I can to make confrences and
  25. trace-free calls without getting nailed"
  26. I will discuss several ways to do this..
  27. I wrote the text file in 40 column even
  28. though I have 80 so everyone vith 40 col
  29. can read it easily. And so when/if you
  30. print it out you can waste half the
  31. paper!!

  34. HOW TO FIND THEM: METHOD ONE-
  35. needed-
  36.    The Yellow Pages
  37.    touch tone phone
  38.    Your areas ANI phone number
  39.  
  40. Okay. Open the phone book to PLUMBERS.
  41. Find one that says 24 hour service 
  42. or something like that. Dial the #.
  43. Let it ring. You should hear a click,
  44. then a ring. that is the call diverting.
  45. the other ring often sounds different.
  46. get the other people to hang up. now, 
  47. THIS IS VITAL: DONT ANNOY THEM! They're
  48. not dumb and will catch on if you do.
  49. ask in  foreigner type voice "Is Abdul
  50. there?" or something like that. they
  51. will hang up. Wait for a dial tone,
  52. then dial the ANI number. Thats the
  53. thing when you dial it it reads back
  54. your number. if it says your number,
  55. then its not  a diverter. Try another
  56. plumber and take your business elsewhere
  57. but if  it reads a different number, its
  58. a diverter.. It wont be the number you
  59. dialed though. Write down the number you
  60. dialed somewhere. Now you have a diverter.
  61. Other people to do this to are Doctors,
  62. Electricians, or anyone with 24-hour
  63. service in their ad.

  65. Problems with diverters:
  66. ---------------------------------------
  67. Some diverters have security features
  68. in them to keep out the big bad phreaks.
  69. For example, Radio Shack  sells
  70. diverters. They hang up on you(and
  71. disconnect the call) either after five
  72. or ten minutes, depending on what the
  73. owner sets a switch to. I hate those.
  74. Also, some diverters click when used.
  75. every minute or so. If you dial
  76. ALLIANCE and it wont go though, then
  77. dial 10288 first then alliance.
  78. this will rout the call through AT&T.

  80. Why Diverters Are Superior:
  81. ---------------------------------------
  82. Often if you use a diverter thats local
  83. to you you get a great connection. Why?
  84. Your dialing off of its dial tone as if
  85. it was your own, but not getting billed
  86. of course. Diverters dont trace or have
  87. ANI like those nasty 950 companies. 
  88. They reach any number that you can..
  89. If you call a number that traces with
  90. a diverter(Gvmt/TRW/etc) it gets the
  91. DIverter number and not yours. You
  92. are safe, the Plumber/Doctor has some
  93. serious explaining to do to the feds.
  94. As well as a large phone bill that
  95. he dosent know where it all came from.

  98. HOW TO FIND THEM: METHOD TWO-
  99. ---------------------------------------
  100. you need-
  101.      A PAYPHONE(unless your in
  102.                 Crossbar, but still
  103.                 WATCH OUT!)
  104.      The number to the Credit Operator
  105.  
  106. I reccomend using a payphone for this
  107. one since you are screwing with your
  108. local telco who dosent like you much.

  110. Ok, dial the credit op. Ask for the
  111. AT&T CREDIT OPERATOR. They should put
  112. on some lame recording. Wait till its
  113. over then wait for a dial tone. Hit
  114. 9+1+Area Code and Phone Number.
  115. This is convenient if you have no
  116. quarter. This is how it works:
  117. 1) you call credit op and ask
  118.    for at&t credit op
  119. 2) Op hits button to DIAL number
  120.    with recording. Op lets go
  121.    of button to talk to you(IE: goes
  122.    on to next person with ques.)
  123. 3) Recording Ends. It hangs up but
  124.    you dont. you get a dial tone:
  125.    THE CREDIT OPS DIAL TONE!!!
  126. 4) Dial 9+1+Area Code and Number.

  128. I reccomend hitting 9+ANI the first
  129. time you do this to make sure it works
  130. in your area. I have only tried it inSSss
