As Hades did not want to release Persephone, so Zeus suggested a compromise: Persephone should come back on the earth for two third of the year, while she had to spend the other four months of the year with her husband in the Underworld, causing the coming of the winter on the earth. Persephone's companions who did not defend her when she had been abducted, were changed in Sirens, monsters half-woman and half-fish which with their sweet song attracted the sailors causing them be shipwrecked.
