  8. you easily change default Windows icons,

  14. Windows' icon cache, increase cache size,
  15. change various drive/folder icons, restore

  18. PROGRAM LONG DESCRIPTION:
  19. ActivIcons lets you easily change default Windows icons, cursors
  20. and other icon-related desktop parameters. And best of all,
  21. there are no time limits, and you can use it free of charge on
  22. your system.

  24. ActivIcons allows switching your own, custom icons for Network
  25. Neighborhood, My Computer, and other icons which Windows places
  26. on your desktop and Explorer file manager. It also lets you
  27. quickly change the default Windows mouse cursors, make the icon
  28. text labels transparent, change the color of the text below the
  29. icons, preserve and restore the position of icons on the
  30. desktop, rebuild the Windows icon cache, replace various drive
  31. and folder icons (including the icons for individual drives and
  32. folders), remove shortcut symbols, restore the desktop default
  33. icons, increase the size of the Windows cache, and more.

  51. INSTALLING ActivIcons
  52. ------------------------------

  54. Simply use the SETUP.EXE program to place ActivIcons on your
  55. system.

  59. UNINSTALLING / REMOVING FROM YOUR SYSTEM

  61. If you decide that you no longer wish to use ActivIcons
  62. on your system, simply go to the Windows Control panel
  63. and use "Add/Remove Programs" to delete the
  64. ActivIcons.EXE files and directory folder.
  65.  
  66. Removing ActivIcons will not cause your original icons
  67. to be restored. To do this, use the button at the lower
  68. right of the ActivIcons screen to restore the default
  69. Windows icons prior to deleting ActivIcons.EXE.

  73. USING THE PROGRAM

  75. To begin using ActivIcons, run ACTIVICON.EXE. Once the
  76. ActivIcons window appears, click on the "On/Off" button
  77. to begin making changes to your system. You will notice
  78. a "?" button at the lower/left side of the screen. Click
  79. on this button, then move the cursor to click on an item
  80. about which you would like to see more information.

  82. Also notice that the text at the top of the screen
  83. changes to describe the icons and controls underneath the
  84. cursor.

  86. The various on-screen help topics and ACTIVICON.HLP help
  87. file contain hints and instructions about using ActivIcons.

  89. Once you have finished making your changes, click again on
  90. the "On/Off" button to exit the program. If you only wish
  91. to minimize the ActivIcons window, click on the small
  92. round button at the right side of the screen.
