  26.  Prices have changed since the previous release, first because now
  27.  the NON-commercial users also must pay for a license, second because
  28.  the US dollar has a very low transfer rate.

  31.  Copyrights and Licence Agreement

  34.  - Users of the MTS-package must accept this disclaimer of warranty:

  36.  - The MTS-package is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all
  37.    warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
  38.    the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
  39.    The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  40.    which may result from the use of the MTS-package;
  41.  
  42.  - The MTS-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  43.    to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends,
  44.    but please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.
  45.    The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
  46.    computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
  47.    provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.
  48.  
  49.  - If you find this program useful and find that you are using and
  50.    continue the use of the MTS-package after a 30 days trial period,
  51.    you must register the MTS-package as described below;
  52.  
  53.  - Non-commercial users will get a license for the usage of MTS by
  54.    sending a postcard or letter as registration. Non-commercial users
  55.    are FREE to use MTS on their system(s) without paying any fee. A
  56.    'closed BBS' (a BBS where users have to pay for using the BBS) is
  57.    NOT a non-commercial user;
  58.  
  59.  - Closed BBS's (a BBS where you have to pay to get access to the
  60.    BBS) can get a Closed-BBS license for a small amount of money.
  61.    All users that are registered before April 1th 1991 (postcards,
  62.    letters or NetMail received by me before April 1th 1991) and that
  63.    run a Closed BBS, get their license for free. See below;
  64.  
  65.  - Commercial usage of MTS will cost somewhat more. A company using
  66.    MTS needs a commercial licence. See below;
  67.  
  68.  - The registration of the MTS-package will licence ONE copy for use on
  69.    any computer at any one time, as long as the usage confirms to the
  70.    type of registration you have done (so NON-commercial usage when you
  71.    have a non-commercial licence);
  72.  
  73.  - Anyone distributing the MTS-package for any kind of remuneration must
  74.    first contact the Author at the address above for authorization.
  75.  
  76.  - You are encouraged to pass a copy of the MTS-package along to your
  77.    friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  78.    copy if they find that they can use it;
  79.  
  80.  - Support on MTS, is available by means of written letters or by
  81.    entering the international echomaol area DISP;
  82.  
  83.  - Problems and suggestions can be entered in the FidoNet <tm> Echomail
  84.    conference <tm> called DISP (international). Entering this echo does
  85.    not exclude you of the duty to register the MTS-package, though users
  86.    who evaluate the product can enter the echo for questions;

  88.  - The MTS-package, all programs, the documentation and support-files is
  89.    copyrighted 1991 by Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131, Badhoevedorp
  90.    1170AC, Holland. All rights are reserved. You may copy this package
  91.    for backup purposes. Also you may copy and share unmodified copies of
  92.    the whole package, providing that the copyright notice is reproduced
  93.    and included on all copies.
  94.    Excluded from this statement are the support-files written by other
  95.    authors. Please refer to the documentation of these programs for
  96.    copyrights and licence agreements;

  98.  - It is forbidden to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, de-
  99.    compile and/or disassemble the software in the MTS-package. Patching
  100.    the medium at places that carry the software is seen as a program
  101.    change and is also forbidden;
  102.  
  103.  - Performing any of the illegal actions as stated in the previous
  104.    lines, is a theft and no fair play to the author and, more important,
  105.    to the registered users;
  106.  
  107.  - Bulletin Board Systems that distribute the MTS package can convert
  108.    the WHOLE package to any archive-system they like but all original
  109.    files must be included in the new archive. The MTS-package on the
  110.    Bulletin Board can contain at the most 2 extra files. These files
  111.    can only be a commercial for that Bulletin Board and/or validation
  112.    data that is presented as a service to all users and shall have no
  113.    other functions;

  115.  - After the normal trial period of 30 days, you must register the soft-
  116.    ware (see REGISTER.MTS) or you must remove it from your PC;
  117.  
  118.  - Comments, suggestions and bug reports are welcome and will be answered
  119.    as soon I have the time to do so. You can send me a letter of leave a
  120.    NetMail <tm> message named to Rob Van.hoeven (mind the point) on node

  132.  There are several ways to register the usage of the MTS-package. All
  133.  is depending on the environment where MTS will be running.
  134.

  136.  NON-Commercial registration
  137.  ────────────────────────────────────

  139.  When you use MTS in a non-commercial environment, the registration is
  140.  simple and cheap if you consider all the time I have put into this
  141.  product. As NON-commercial user, you must only send a postcard or a
  142.  letter, stating that you use MTS, to the supplied address. There is
  143.  no registration fee for NON-commercial usage. After I have received
  144.  the card, you have (automatically):
  145.  
  146.  - The license for running ONE copy of the MTS-package in a
  147.    NON-commercial environment on any computer at any one time;
  148.  
  149.  - The license for NON-commercial usage can not be used in any other
  150.    environment than the NON-commercial environment itself. Upgrading
  151.    to a commercial license or to a license for a closed BBS can be
  152.    done by paying the difference in price between the current license
  153.    and the new license;
  154.  
  155.  The license does NOT include any update service as described later.

  159.  Closed-BBS registration

  162.  When you use MTS on a closed BBS (a BBS where users have to pay to
  163.  get access to all the BBS functions), you must pay a small amount
  164.  of money for a license.
  165.  Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:

  167.  - The license for running ONE copy of the MTS-package in a so called
  168.    Closed-BBS environment on one computer at any one time;
  169.  
  170.  - A diskette with the latest copy of the MTS-package on 5 1/4 or
  171.    3 1/2 inch diskette (360/720 Kb) with a program to patch the
  172.    name into any version of MTS, thus showing to your users that
  173.    they are working with a licensed version of MTS;
  174.  
  175.  - The license for a 'closed' BBS can not be used in any other commer-
  176.    cial environment than the BBS itself. Upgrading to a 'normal' com-
  177.    mercial license can be done by paying the difference in price;
  178.  
  179.  The license does NOT include any update service as described later.

  181.  The price for a Closed-BBS license is US $ 10,--.

  195.  - A diskette with the latest copy of the MTS-package on 5 1/4 or

  198.    they are working with a licensed version of MTS;

  208.  Both paying  AND non-paying registerd users can enter the update ser-
  209.  vice. International users who use MTS will benefit most of this
  210.  feature. Paying the fee for update service, entitles you to:
  211.  
  212.  - Receiving every new release (minor AND major) for the period of
  213.    one year or 10 releases (which ever comes first) on diskette
  214.    media by first-class Airmail;
  215.  
  216.  - The updates will be send the same day the new release is submitted
  217.    to the support BBS (2:512/100 in Holland);
  218.  
  219.  - The diskettes are first-class (no no-name or white diskettes) and
  220.    will contain a special diskette label;
  221.  
  222.  The price for update service is US $ 15,-- for 5 1/2 inch (360Kb) dis-
  223.  kettes and US $ 20,-- for 3 1/2 inch (720Kb) diskettes.

  226.  Paying

  229.  - By postal money order or international money order. Normal cheques
  230.    (if they are not EuroCheques) will cost me extra money to transfer,
  231.    so add US $ 10,-- for transfer if you use such a cheque. Cheques
  232.    that can not be collected within a reasonable time, are returned to
  233.    the sender;

  239.  - Giro-cheques (only dutch) written out to the name above;

  241.   - Sending money directly, but please make sure you send it with
  242.     some kind of safety, so you can make sure yourself that I received
  243.     the money. When you send money, you can also send money in your
  244.     own currency, but make sure to use a valid exchange rate. This is
  245.     the exchange rate on the day you send the money to me;

  247.  In NO way I can accept credit-card transfers. If you are not sure,
  248.  please contact me by normal mail !

  250.  Dutch users can also pay in dutch money. Transfer the amount of dutch
  251.  money in one of the above ways. Use the exchange rate on the day of
