-
- The Game
- --------
-
- Think About It! is a game of pure logic. The action takes place on a 7x7
- board, and the idea is to navigate your counter from the bottom of the
- board to the top.
- Also occupying the board are other counters which perform a strict and
- predictable motion. If one of these lands on the same square as your piece
- then your game is over.
- For every turn you must tell your counter which way to move. It can only move
- one square in any of four directions. It cannot move diagonally.
- Every turn, the other counters perform the action that their markings
- signify that they must do.
- Finally, and this is where the real skill comes in, you must plan your
- moves in advance.
-
-
- Step-by-step.
- -------------
- Each level consists of a series of stages.
- 1. The computer pieces appear on the board. They appear in a certain order.
- This is the also order in which they move.
- 2. Choose your starting point.
- Using the stylus or buttons you can place your counter in any square
- on the bottom row of the board.
- You must place your piece before the timer bar at the top of the screen
- runs out, otherwise the Pilot will choose a random square for you to
- start on.
- 3. Plan your moves.
- Using the buttons or stylus you must choose in advance the order of moves
- that your counter will take.
- The default is 4 moves in advance.
- Again, there is a time limit to make your moves in. If you run out of
- time, your moves are generated randomly.
- 4. Sit back and watch the show.
- For each turn the pieces perform their actions. Your piece always moves
- first.
- If a computer piece lands on your piece, you die,
- If a computer piece lands on another computer piece, the former will
- have another move. Watch out for this, it is easy to miss this when
- planning your moves
-
- If you haven't landed on a computer piece, the action returns to stage 3
- and you continue on your way to the top.
-
-
- The Nasties
- -----------
- The first pieces that you are up against will only move one square in the
- direction they are pointing.
- As the levels progress, new counters are introduced. Some of these do a
- similar move to a knight in chess, ie. they move 2 squares forwards, and one
- to the side.
- Other pieces, marked with two arrows, move 2 squares in the direction
- they are facing.
-
-
- Level Progression and scoring
- -----------------------------
- When you complete a level you get a screen describing your score.
- You get a score bonus for completing a level in the fewest moves possible,
- and a bonus dependant upon the level, and the skill level at which you are
- playing.
- Every ten levels, a new enemy piece is added to the board to further complicate
- matters.
-
-
- Further Options
- ---------------
- As well as the usual selection of options, you may select :
- 1. Difficulty 1-10.
- This describes the amount of time you have to make your selections.
- 1 is easy, while 10 grandmaster level.
- 2. Number Of Nasties 3-10
- The initial number of nasties that appear on each level.
- (this increases as you progress through the levels)
- 3. Moves Ahead. 2-8
- The number of moves ahead that you feel able to perform
- Obviously, the more moves ahead, the harder it is.
