  9. Thank you for trying CaribStud.  CaribStud is a Caribean Stud poker game 
  10. for the Palm Pilot that has basically the same rules as the Caribean 
  11. Stud Poker game that is played in most casinos.
  12.  
  13. By playing the game on your Pilot, you can quickly try a number of betting
  14. strategies, and perhaps you can learn to play better and win a few bucks 
  15. next time you go to the casino.  If you do please remember who provided 
  16. this learning aid for you ;-)

  28. How to Play

  31. The screen for the game is divided as follows:

  47. The ante amount can be changed by selecting inside the Ante area.  Valid
  48. ante amounts are $5 to $25 in increments of $5.  After selecting the ante
  49. amount, press the Deal button to wager the ante amount and deal the cards.
  50.  
  51. Five cards are dealt each to the player and dealer, with only one of the
  52. dealer's cards being exposed.  If you decide to drop your hand, select the 
  53. Drop button, and only your ante amount will be lost.  If you decide to 
  54. bet your hand select the Bet button.  You will be wagering an additional 
  55. amount equal to twice the ante.  For example, if you have a $5 ante amount, 
  56. the total amount wagered will be the $5 ante plus a $10 bet.

  58. When the Bet button is pressed, the dealer's remaining cards will be 
  59. exposed.  If the dealer does not "qualify" (meaning an Ace-King or higher), 
  60. then you win an amount equal to the ante.  If the dealer does qualify, then
  61. it becomes your hand against the dealer's.  If you win the hand, then you 
  62. win the ante amount, plus an amount determined by the amount of the bet
  63. (not ante) and the poker hand.  Each poker hand will pay out a different
  64. amount.

  78. In addition to the above payouts, you may be entitled to additional payouts
  79. from the progressive jackpot.  These are paid if you bet, but regardless of
  80. whether the dealer qualifies or whether you win the hand or not.

  85. Straight Flush        10% of progressive jackpot
  86. ROYAL FLUSH        100% of progressive jackpot

  88. The progressive jackpot starts at $10,000, and is increased by $1 for each 
  89. hand played.  The amount in the progressive jackpot may be viewed by selecting
  90. the "Progressive Jackpot" menu button.  Each time one of the above amounts is
  91. won, it is subtracted from the progressive jackpot.  However, the minimum value
  92. of the progressive jackpot is always $10,000.

  101. Statistics - View buy-in amount, winnings, hands won/lost, and hand statistics
  102. for both player and dealer.

  104. Buy Chips 500 - Buy an additional $500 in chips.

  106. Cash in Chips 500 - Cash-in $500 in chips.

  108. Instructions - Game play instructions.

  110. Payouts - Display payout amounts for each poker hand.

  112. Progressive Jackpot - View the current amount in the progressive jackpot.

  114. About CaribStud - Gives version number and other info.

  124. There are three ways that a shareware author may handle registration:
  125.  
  126. 1) Cause the program to quit working after a trial period if a registration
  127.    code is not entered.
  128.  
  129. 2) Display annoying messages until a registration code is entered.
  130.  
  131. 3) Be naive and believe that most people are honest and will register the
  132.    program if they enjoy using.
  133.  
  134. I tend to send registration fees for programs I actually enjoy using.  For
  135. those that I rarely use, method (1) stinks and method (2) can be fairly 
  136. annoying.  So for this program, I have chosen to trust in the good nature 
  137. of people and not add a registration "code" that must be entered.
  138.  
  139. So what motivation is there for you to register this software?  First,
  140. registration entitles you to automatic notification of all future versions 
  141. of CaribStud.  Second, if you register this software, you will be given a
  142. free registration for the next product to be released, LetItRide, as well
  143. as automatic notification of its release.  This product likely will have
  144. some sort of registration enforcement built in.  Finally, you will have
  145. the knowledge and satisfaction of knowing you did the right thing, and will
  146. have my eternal gratitude.

  167. Install CaribStud.prc using instapp.exe.
