  13. This screen saver program will allow you to use your own image in the
  14. screen saver. It's great for businesses to have their company logo, or
  15. use in a computer display in their store. Families can include a picture of
  16. their child, grandchild, pet, etc. . The image you select will bounce 
  17. around the screen.

  19. This program is a shareware program. The time limit is 2 minutes and 
  20. then the screen saver will exit. Once registered the time limit is removed.
  21. Refer to register.txt in the directory in which you installed 
  22. Goetz's Screen Saver for registration instructions.
  23. Registration is $10.

  25. The unregistered version can freely be distributed. Please
  26. contact me to let me know you are distributing it. If 
  27. possible, please send me a complimentary copy of the
  28. product that it's distributed on (such as magazine or CD).

  35. Installation:

  38. Unzip the program and run the file setup.exe . 
  39. The default directory to install is
  40. c:\program files\Goetz's Screen Saver
  41. You can change this if you like.
  42.  
  43. When the install is complete, momentarily the screen saver properties 
  44. for your system should be displayed and Goetz's Screen Saver should be
  45. selected. If not, manually go into your screen saver settings. Right
  46. click on an empty area of the desktop and choose Properties. Then choose
  47. Screen Saver. Then go through the list until Goetz's Screen Saver is 
  48. selected.

  50. You can make the image displayed to be any BMP (bitmap image) on your system
  51. that is smaller than 640*480. If it's bigger than 640*480, it will not move 
  52. correctly; instead it will sort of scroll. The smaller the image, the
  53. smoother the movement. Place the image into the directory you installed 
  54. this screen saver to. Make the image goetzssimage.bmp, and the screen saver
  55. will load that image when started. The existing image is just a sample.

  57. When the program runs it checks for a configuration file goetzscreensaver.ini
  58. located in c:\windows. There you can change the speed at which the picture
  59. moves at. Locate statement that reads:

  62. value=30
  63.  
  64. Change the value to anything from 1 to 100. 1 is very slow, 100 is very fast.

  66. The screen saver creates a default configuration file, when it's run for 
  67. approximately 3 seconds and there is no existing configuration file. 
  68. If you want to change the speed of the picture, let the screen saver run 
  69. for a few seconds. Then you can edit the configuration.

  85. Uninstall:

  88. Run the uninstall icon in the program group Goetz's Screen Saver, or from
  89. the Add/Remove Programs in control panel. It may ask if you want to
  90. remove a file cncs232.dll. You can say yes to that. However if you have
  91. any other programs that use that file they will not work. If you say no,
  92. and want to remove it manually, it's located in c:\windows\system.

  94. You should also remove the file c:\windows\goetzscreensaver.ini.

  96. If you installed more than once, without uninstalling it between installs,
  97. you will likely find duplicate icons even after uninstalling one of them.
  98. In that case, manually remove the icons.
