  13. Informations about WinAsteroids

  16. WinAsteroids is a small, nice game for Windows 95/98/NT based
  17. upon the "Asteroids" game idea with photorealistic, raytraced 
  18. graphics and a fun 2-player mode
  19.  
  20. WinAsteroids requires :
  21.  
  22.     * Windows 95/98 or Windows NT
  23.  
  24. WinAsteroids consists of following files (as ZIP-archiv):

  26.     * WinAsteroids.EXE (the programm)
  27.  
  28.     * HIST_ENG.TXT  (informations about older versions
  29.       and possibilities for Support, Questions, ...)
  30.     * README.TXT (this file)
  31.  
  32.     * if this is the unregistered shareware- version,
  33.       there is a file called REG_ENG.TXT that 
  34.       provides informations about registration
  35.  
  36.     * and there are some files called "setup.xxx", that
  37.       are parts of the setup routine

  40. Installing Mr. Paper
  41. ====================

  43. Just run setup.exe, specify a path for the program-files
  44. and a folder for the icons.

  46. Using WinAsteroids
  47. ==================

  49. Standard Control Keys:

  51. Player 1:
  52.     num 8        accelerate
  53.     num 4/num 6    turn left/right
  54.     num 5        fire
  55.     num 9        toggle shields
  56.     num 7        chose weapon
  57.  
  58. Player 2:
  59.     e        accelerate
  60.     s/f        turn left/right
  61.     d        fire
  62.     r        toggle shields
  63.     w        chose weapon
  64.  
  65. If you chose OPTIONS|SET CONTROLS a dialog appears, where
  66. you can see the actual control keys. By clicking the buttons
  67. on the bottom, you can change the actual settings for player1,
  68. player2 or leave the dialog.
  69.  
  70. Also in the options menu, you can enable the 2-player mode -
  71. so you can shoot your best friend`s ship or maneuver him into
  72. an asteroid.
  73.  
  74. The game has only one aim: to collect as many points by
  75. shooting Asteroids and flying saucers. 
  76. You can control your ship with the keys listed above 
  77. (turn left or right and accelerate), to brake you must turn
  78. 180 degree and accelerate. You can also raise the shields to
  79. protect you for a short moment, but be careful, the shields energy
  80. is limited.
  81. If you can destroy a flying saucer, there remains a extra
  82. life, shield energy or special ammo.
  83. There are two special weapons : a gatling gun that has a much
  84. higher cadence than the standard weapon, and a plasma
  85. gun that destroyes a asteroid with one hit, but the cadence
  86. and range is very low. Since version 2.0 there is a smartbomb,
  87. too - but this smartbomb costs one life and all shields energy,
  88. but you go immediatly to the next level.

  90. Online-Highscorelist
  91. ====================

  93. By clicking the button "send highscores to the wa-contest"
  94. you can send me your highscores. By doing this you automatically
  95. take part in the monthly contest where you can win an
  96. unlimited version of WinAsteroids.
  97. Because of the differences of the several email-systems
  98. there can occur problems. If this is the case, you can send
  99. me manually the file "hof.dat" by email.
