  9. System requirements: 386, 256K RAM, VGA/SVGA monitor.
  10. OPTIONAL extras:     Soundblaster, mouse.

  12. NOTE: This game will NOT run on a 286 and does not support EGA. A Soundblaster
  13. is only required for the intro sequence and you can tell the SETUP program
  14. you do not have a Soundblaster if this is the case. The mouse is only
  15. required for the menu - you can also use the keyboard to access menu
  16. functions.

  19. These files should be present in whatever directory you installed Eggs Files
  20. 5 into:

  24.         SETUP.EXE       the Eggs Files 5 setup program
  25.         EGGSFIL5.CFG    configuration file
  26.         SPRITE.EF5      contains all the graphics
  27.         LEVELS.EF5      contains all the level data
  28.         MAP.EF5         contains the data for the map
  29.         EF5INTRO.WAV    this sound file is played after the intro sequence
  30.         USERLEV.TXT     read this if you want to make your own levels
  31.         TEMPLATE.LEV    template for creating your own levels
  32.         README.TXT      this file

  35. Before you run The Eggs Files 5 for the first time, please run the SETUP
  36. program to set up your SoundBlaster if you have one, and also sound and
  37. music from the PC speaker during the game. By default, a port 220
  38. SoundBlaster is selected. If you have no SoundBlaster or a sound card that 
  39. is not SoundBlaster compatible then please click 'Setup SoundBlaster' and
  40. choose 1 - No SoundBlaster. If you have a port 220 SoundBlaster choose
  41. option 2, or for a port 240 SoundBlaster choose 3.

  43. NOTE ABOUT SETUP PROGRAM AND WINDOWS: Run the SETUP program full screen.
  44. Running in a window caused strange results on screen on my computer - the
  45. colours went a bit odd - but did not affect the workings of the program.
  46. To run SETUP full screen from Windows 95 right-click the SETUP file and
  47. choose Properties, Screen, Full screen, OK. From Windows 3.x use PIF Editor.
  48. If you are not familiar with PIF Editor click Help, Contents.

  50. To run Eggs Files 5:
  51.     Run the EGGSFIL5 program. Make sure you have used the SETUP program
  52.     before running Eggs Files 5 for the first time.

  54. Instructions:
  55.     Full instructions are contained in the program - just click on
  56.     "Instructions" from the menu screen.
  57.  
  58. Trouble?!:
  59.     If you keep getting error messages tell me, and also tell me the
  60.         error number you get. Also tell me what you were doing at the time
  61.         the error occurred - eg playing a level, on the map, just starting
  62.         to run the EGGSFIL5 program, etc. I will then try to fix the problem
  63.         in the next version.

  65. NOTE: Eggs Files 5 runs best in full screen with Windows 95. It works fine in
  66. a window but it will be slower than full-screen. If you are running Eggs
  67. Files 5 and want to change it to full screen, do NOT maximize the window but
  68. click the full-screen button - it looks like a + sign with arrows on it.
