- Welcome to Sliders
- ------------------
- by Malachite
-
- Introduction
- ------------
-
- You may recognize the Classic puzzle as a mix between the old hand held
- number puzzle, and a jigsaw puzzle. If you're really up for a challenge,
- try Slider's Challenge. It can be tough but remember:
-
- EVERY PUZZLE IS WINABLE!
-
- The puzzles are scrambled randomly, so you'll probably never see the same
- puzzle configuration twice.
-
-
- System Requirements
- -------------------
-
- You must be running Window 95 or Windows NT.
- You must be in either 64K (hi-color) mode, or 16M (true-color) mode.
-
- The game will work in 256 color mode, but won't look as pretty.
- We decided to go with higher resolutions because almost every
- computer can now support those modes. And the game looks MUCH
- better with more colors.
-
- If you don't already use a utility called QUICKRES, from Microsoft.
- Get on the Microsoft Web site, and download it from their Windows 95
- PowerToys section. It will allow you to change resolutions and
- color depths without restarting your computer.
- You can find Microsoft at
- www.microsoft.com
-
- And the QUICKRES utility at
- http://www.microsoft.com/windows/software/powertoy.htm
-
- How To Play
- -----------
-
- Classic:
- Slide the tiles around by clicking on a tile adjacent to the free
- square.
-
- Slider's Challenge:
- Click on the arrows to rotate the rows or columns.
-
- hints:
- Turning on hints gives you the numbers on the tiles that tells you
- where each tile goes. (i.e. #1 goes in the upper left, #2 goes to
- the right of that one, etc.)
-
- grid:
- Only changes the appearance to suit your palate.
-
- scramble:
- Start a new puzzle with the same configuration.
-
-
- Configuration Screen
- --------------------
- To get to the configuration screen, simply click the right mouse button
- while playing. Here you can change:
-
- Puzzle size: Change how many tiles the puzzle will be horizontally
- and vertically. Generally, the more tiles, the harder
- the puzzle. But do try 3 by 3. Sometimes it can be
- a toughy. In the demo you can try 9 different puzzle
- sizes. (3x3, 3x4, 3x5, 4x3, etc.) In the registered
- version you can go up to 7x7 which is a doozy.
-
- Load Image: If you register, you can load any bitmap (any size)
- and use it as a puzzle. You can download free puzzle
- packs from our web site. www.emf.net/~alexz
-
- Choose Image: You have 4 puzzles to try in the demo version. The
- registered version has 15 puzzles.
