  39. System Requirements

  41.   The minimum software and hardware requirements your computer system needs
  42.   to run Sage Concentration successfully are shown in the following list.
  43.  
  44.   o Windows version 3.1 or later. This program should run with all Windows
  45.     based operating systems including Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT, 
  46.     and Windows 95.
  47.  
  48.   o 1 megabyte (MB) of free disk space.
  49.  
  50.   o A mouse.

  52. Installation Procedures
  53.  
  54.   Installing Sage Concentration on your computer is simple. To install, 
  55.   follow these steps:
  56.  
  57.   1. Start the Windows application and select the Program Manager.
  58.  
  59.   2. Select the run entry from the File menu item.
  60.  
  61.   3. Insert the Sage Concentration disk into the disk drive.
  62.  
  63.   4. Keyin the letter of the drive that you inserted the disk into followed
  64.      by ":\setup" in the command line field. For example, if the disk is in
  65.      drive "a" you would type:

  67.      a:\setup
  68.  
  69.      Next, select the OK button on the dialog box. This will cause Sage
  70.      Concentration's setup executable to start running.
  71.  
  72.      Note: Instead of running setup from the run menu entry, you also can 
  73.            simply double click setup.exe from the Program Manager or Windows
  74.            Explorer.
  75.  
  76.   5. The setup executable will display a dialog box with a default 
  77.      directory specified in the field. If you want to install the files in 
  78.      another directory, key it in in this field.
  79.  
  80.   6. Select the Install button on the dialog box and the files will be
  81.      installed. If the specified directory does not exist, it will be 
  82.      created for you.

  84.   7. If no errors have occurred during installation, a dialog box claiming
  85.      successful completion will be displayed when all files have been 
  86.      copied and expanded.

  88.    If the installation was successful, a Sage program group will be created 
  89.    in the Program Manager. This will contain the Sage Concentration program 
  90.    item. When you double click on this, Sage Concentration will begin 
  91.    execution.

  93. Online Help

  95.    Sage Concentration's Online Help can be accessed in two different ways 
  96.    once it is running:

  98.    By selecting the Help entry under the Help menu item.
  99.    By selecting the F1 key from the keyboard.
  100.  
  101.    The Online Help contains information that explains all aspects of this 
  102.    game and describes how to use all its functionality. This should be the 
  103.    user's main source of help.

  105.    Once the Help window is displayed, the buttons near the top help you find
  106.    the information you need. The Contents button displays a list of Help
  107.    topics that Sage Concentration provides. The Search button displays a 
  108.    dialog box where you specify a topic to search for. The Back button 
  109.    displays the previously viewed topic. The History button displays a 
  110.    chronological list of all Help topics viewed during your current game 
  111.    session.

  113.    If you need to learn how to use Help, press the F1 key on the keyboard
  114.    while the Help window is open.

  116. Start Playing
  117.  
  118.    Once Sage Concentration is installed, start the game by double clicking 
  119.    the left mouse button on the Sage Concentration program item that was 
  120.    created by the setup executable. After doing this, Sage Concentration 
  121.    will begin execution by displaying the introduction screen. To stop this 
  122.    introduction and go to the main screen simply click the left mouse button.

  124. Rules of the Game

  126.    Object of the Game
  127.    The object of the game is to score more points than your opponent by 
  128.    selecting pairs of cards that match. There is some luck involved in this 
  129.    game, but in order to beat your opponent consistently you need to 
  130.    remember more of the cards that where turned up previously than he does.

  133.    How points are scored
  134.    Each time you select a pair of cards that match on your turn you are 
  135.    rewarded one point.

  138.    How to play
  139.    The first step to begin play is to select the opponent that you want to 
  140.    play against. You have the option of playing againt the computer set at 
  141.    one of two levels or you can play against another human player. The 
  142.    players can be set on the Players Dialog Box. You also have some controll 
  143.    over some of the parameters of the game such as the game speed and sound 
  144.    effects. These can be set on the Options Dialog Box. Once the players and 
  145.    the game options are set, start the game by selecting the Start entry 
  146.    under the Game menu item. You can also simply select the F2 key on your 
  147.    keyboard. Once this is done all 52 cards will be dealt and displayed 
  148.    face-down on the screen. The players name whose turn it is will be 
  149.    highlighted in red at the top of the screen. On your turn, select two 
  150.    cards which you think match (i.e. a pair of 7s, Queens, etc.) one at a 
  151.    time by positioning the mouse over the card and clicking the left button. 
  152.    If the cards that you chose match you will be rewarded one point and it 
  153.    will remain your turn. If the cards do not match, your turn will be over 
  154.    and play continues with the other player. When it is the computers turn, 
  155.    an animated hand will appear and make its selections.

  158.    Game over
  159.    When all 52 cards have been matched the game is over. The winner is the 
  160.    player who has scored the most points.
