- REQUIREMENTS

- You need an IBM PC combatible computer, a 486 or above system,
- supervga graphic abilities, a mouse, and an optional soundblaster card.

- Getting Started
- _______________

- To play BorderWorld copy the BorderWorld files off the disk or decompress
- the files into a directory on your hard drive. Load the file called
- BORDER.EXE either by using the file manager in Windows or from the dos
- prompt.
-
- The title screen should load showing you the title of the game, hit the
- spacebar or any key on the keyboard to get past the title screen.
- The credits screen should be displayed, press any key to continue past
- these screens. (the computer may not respond automatically, hit a key
- and wait)

- The menu screen will then be displayed, use your mouse and move the pointer
- to the option you wish to select. The first option is to read the story
- behind Borderworld, this story sets up the premise of BorderWorld, why you
- are here and what the background of your character is. The second option
- is to start the game. You may also load a previous game if you have played
- the game before and saved your game. You are also able to view the
- credits of who the people who worked on this game are, and information
- on how to order the sequel to the adventure. You may also quit the game
- from this main menu.

- The next section deals with the play of the game, started by selecting
- start game from the main menu.

- Playing BorderWorld
- -------------------

- You are transported to the BorderWorld at the start of the game.
- To move around the world move the mouse pointer to the direction that
- corresponds where you want to go and click the mouse button. N is for
- north, E - is for East, W - is for West, S - is for South. When you
- arrive at a destination a text box is automatically displayed giving
- you a description of the area as well as a picture of the place you are at.
- Click the mouse pointer on the text button to see a list of options you
- wish you use in that location.

- From the menu you are able to pick up objects, examine the area where you
- are at, drop objects, use the various objects that you have picked up,
- unlock doors with keys picked up, load and saving your game, quiting the game,
- and turning the sound on and off, attack the nearest person or thing,
- swim across water, give an object, jump, or say a variety of things to
- the nearest entity. By exploring the world and making a variety of choices
- you interact with the world and continue along the unknown land. Click
- the mouse pointer on the return to description to return to the text
- describing your locale.

- REGISTRATION

- NORTHSTAR SOLUTIONS is a company that provides and receives shareware orders
- for various software companies. Midlothian Software has an agreement with
- Northstar to receive by phone, mail, or e-mail orders for Borderworld.
- BorderWorld Part II: The Forgotten City will be sent to the registered
- user by Midlothian Software. Registration information is included in the
- game: it is $10.00 plus $2.50 shipping/handling in U.S. Currency. The user
- will receive the sequel as well as four other games created by the
- shareware author J. Kintz.
