- Second Guess
- Version 1.1 July 10, 1995
-
- Nels Anderson
- 585 Edmands Road
- Framingham, MA 01701 U.S.A.
-
-
- TO RUN SECOND GUESS YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:
-
- 1) SVGA (SuperVGA) video card capable of 640x480 pixels at 256 colors.
- Most suitable video cards are supported by the game and any card that
- supports the VESA 1.2 standard should work.
-
- OR:
-
- Any standard VGA card to run the game in 640x480 pixel, 16 color mode.
-
- 2) 510k of conventional memory. Out of your 640k of possible low memory
- at least 510k must be free for Second Guess to use.
-
- 3) 800k of expanded or extended memory. You must have a memory driver
- (such as HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.SYS that come with MS-DOS, or something
- like QEMM). The game may partially work if you are only a little short
- of available memory, but you'll miss some of the graphics features. If
- possible make expanded memory available as it is faster than extended.
-
- 4) Mouse driver if you wish to use a mouse. Most people will find using a
- mouse the most convenient way to play the game. To use a mouse you must
- have the mouse driver loaded before starting the game. How this is done
- depends on the mouse you own; please see your mouse manual.
-
-
- TILE SETS:
-
- The game supports two types of tile sets, which can be identified by their
- file suffix:
-
- *.TL files: 256 color SVGA tile sets
- *.TLV files: 16 color VGA tile sets
-
- Either kind of tile set can be used but in general using the tile sets
- that match the video mode you are running will result in better appearing
- tiles.
-
-
- VIDEO PROBLEMS:
-
- If the game does not appear to work (video is messed up) there are two
- command line options that may help. Try running the game as follows:
-
- GUESS -Z
-
- or
-
- GUESS -16
-
- Please note that the space after the word "guess" and the dash are
- absolutely required for this to work.
-
-
- WHAT'S NEW:
-
- Better VESA driver support.
- 16 color standard VGA support.
- Backgrounds can now be tiled images in addition to pictures & solid colors.
- Small pictures are now tiled when used as backgrounds.
-
-
- IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, please read the game instructions! The complete
- instructions are in a text file called GUESS.DOC. You can view this file
- from with the game itself (under the FILE menu) or with any text file
- viewer.
