- **1. Getting Started**
- **==================**
-
- **a. How to Play Spades**
- **---------------------**
-
- There are many variations of the game of Spades,
- Infinite Spades is one variation.
-
- Each player is dealt 13 cards. Afterwards, play
- begins with each player bidding on the number of
- tricks they think they can take during the hand.
- Each player must make a minimum bid of 3 and a
- maximum bid of 10.
-
- Play begins with each player discarding their
- lowest club, or if the player has no clubs, they
- must discard a diamond or heart card. The player
- with the highest club wins the trick.
-
- The winner of the first trick then leads with any
- card. Players take turns discarding cards clockwise
- from the leader following suit if possible. If a
- player no longer has a card from the lead suit,
- then she/he may play any card. A trick containing
- a spade is won by the highest spade, otherwise,
- the highest card matching the lead suit wins the
- trick.
-
- Play continues with the winner of each trick leading
- the next. A player can not lead with a spade until
- someone had played a spade on a previous trick, or
- the player only has spades remaining.
-
- Each player who at least makes his/her bid receives
- 10 times their bid plus 1 point for each overtrick.
- A player who fails to make her/his bid loses 10
- times the amount of the bid.
-
- The game ends if a player reaches 200 points, or a
- player loses 200 points.
