  12. What Forth libraries are available, and how can I access them?
  13.  
  14.   There are several repositories of Forth programs, sources, executables,
  15.   and so on.  These various repositories are NOT indentical copies of the
  16.   same things.  Material is available on an AS-IS basis due to the charity
  17.   of the people involved in maintaining the libraries.  In addition to
  18.   the sources listed below, many of the ForthNet branches also have
  19.   libraries available.  See "Forth FAQ: ForthNet: What and how?" for
  20.   information on accessing ForthNet.

  24. Getting Forth files directly from The Forth Interest Group:
  25.  
  26.   The Forth Interest Group maintains a library of Forth files
  27.   available on disk.  You can write them for an order form, their
  28.   address is in the "Forth FAQ: Organizations and Publications." They
  29.   also have a very extensive library on line on GEnie.  For GEnie
  30.   access information, see "Forth FAQ: ForthNet: What and how?".

  34. Getting Forth files via FTP:
  35.  
  36.   There is an FTP site in Portugal devoted to Forth, which contains a
  37.   mirror of the FIG library on GEnie, plus whatever anyone has donated.
  38.   The archive is run by Paulo A. D. Ferreira who has donated the resources
  39.   for it.  The archive machine name/address is:
  40.         asterix.inescn.pt 192.35.246.17
  41.   and the files are in the directory:
  42.         pub/forth
  43.  
  44.   Please note:  There are several other FTP sites on the network that
  45.         have Forth directories.  However, this is the only FTP site
  46.         that has a respository specificly for Forth files of any
  47.         and all kinds.  SIMTEL20 has some MSDOS only files, but
  48.         those are very old.  A few other sites are the primary
  49.         distribution points for particular Forth systems.  If you
  50.         are the maintainer of such a site, please email me some text
  51.         that I can add to the FAQ messages.

  87.     That depends on the type of computer you are using.  There are too many
  88.     answers to list here.  See your system administrator for help in using
  89.     FTP.  You can also read comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d where you can find a

  97.     There are two options for getting Forth files via EMail.  First, you
  98.     can use an EMail interface to an FTP server.  Second, you can use
  99.     FNEAS.  Details on how to use each of those follow.

  114.     program at Princeton Uni.  called BITFTP.  This allows you to send
  115.     whatis basically an FTP batch job to BITFTP@PUCC.BITNET, which
  116.     will execute the job and mail any files back to you in UUENCODED

  135.     FNEAS is a service that allows people without FTP or other methods to
  136.     accesss Forth libraries via email.  (Note that you may also be able to
  137.     use the EMail interface to FTP.)  To access FNEAS, send email to:
  138.         fneas@willett.pgh.pa.us
  139.     and in the body of your message, put the lines:
  140.         help
  141.         path X
  142.     where X is your Internet relative EMail address.  Despite
  143.     appearances, neither:  user@host.uucp  NOR  user@host.bitnet  are
  144.     Internet relative addresses.  If you need help determining how to
  145.     construct an Internet relative EMail address, please consult your
  146.     system administrator.
