  14.     that missed the technical supplement.

  16.     PROPER SOUND AND MUSIC SETTINGS
  17.  
  18.     
  19.        IF THE INSTALL PROCESS HANGS UP AT ANY POINT,
  20.  
  21.        TRY AGAIN USING "INSTALL -s".  FAILURE TO SELECT 
  22.        
  23.        A SOUND SETTING AT THE END OF INSTALLATION WILL 
  24.        
  25.        REQUIRE YOU  TO  RE-INSTALL  FROM THE  BEGINNING.

  28.        When installing the Sound and Music for RAILS DELUXE
  29.     on your computer be sure that the settings are correct and
  30.     match your particular sound system.  If you experience a
  31.     "lock-up" on your machine during the introduction screens
  32.     or in the early parts of a game, then you probably have some
  33.     sort of conflict between the installed settings for your 
  34.     sound card and RAILS DELUXE.  To alleviate problems of this
  35.     sort you must simply run the "Install" routine, which is in
  36.     the RAILSDX root directory, and select "Reconfigure Hardware
  37.     Options". This will allow you to change the settings of
  38.     your sound/music software interrupts (Addresses, IRQ's
  39.     and/or DRQ's).
  40.        If you continue to experience problems feel free to
  41.     contact MicroProse Customer Service.  The phone numbers for
  42.     the MicroProse Customer Service Department and MPS Electronic
  43.     Bulletin Board can be found in the RAILS DELUXE Technical
  44.     Supplement.

  46.     CORRECTIONS TO THE PLAYER AID CARD
  47.         AFRICA: Passengers do not travel between outposts.

  55.         The problems involving "OVERLAY NOT FOUND" errors has been
  56.     traced to the video routine drawing off screen and has been
  57.     fixed.  
  58.         
  59.         The mouse interface now works like a standard Windows 
  60.     interface while retaining the functions of previous versions.
  61.  
  62.         The speed of the game in the Local Display has been
  63.     maximized. A side effect of this is the occasional flashing of    
  64.     city names and small pieces of track.
  65.         
  66.         The Features section of the Game menu now works properly
  67.     (Animations turns off the scrolling pages of the financial
  68.     summary at the end of a fiscal year).
  69.           
  70.         People experiencing problems with digitized sound on IRQ2
  71.     should configure for IRQ9.  This IRQ is usually re-routed to
  72.     IRQ2 on most machines.

  74.         OS/2 users can avoid lock-ups on exit by retiring instead
  75.     of using the <alt>-Q quick exit.

  78.     NEW FEATURES:
  79.  
  80.         New train car artwork has been added in all theatres.  The 
  81.     earliest cars cannot be represented on the routing screen due 
  82.     to their small size, but the cars do change their appearance 
  83.     as newer engines are introduced.

  85.         An Auto-Save feature now saves the game at the end of every 
  86.     year to a special file that can be reloaded using the resume game
  87.     option.  This method does not use any Saved Game spaces.

  89.         The Tutorial Railroad has been added to the game and can be
  90.     accessed using the Tutorial option at the startup.  This also   
  91.     does not take up any Saved Game spaces.

  94.     APOLOGIES:
  95.         We are unable to fix a money roll over problem that manifests
  96.     in a couple of different ways.  Your cash may mysteriously become
  97.     negative, or you may end up with spikes in your stock graph, or 
  98.     if your Railroad net worth rolls over, you may be kicked out of
  99.     office.  This is an indication that you have done so well as to
  100.     exceed the design parameters of the game.  
  101.         
  102.         We were also unable to raise the restrictions on the number
  103.     of stations and trains available without completely rewriting the
  104.     entire game.  There is room in the future for a bigger, better,
  105.     faster game in the Railroad Tycoon line and we hope you will be
  106.     with us at that time for more enjoyment.
