HOW TO HIDE OR UNHIDE PORTIONS OF AN OUTLINE.
A. This is the start of a long outline. Most of it is hidden. If you
look in the second column from the far right (the 79th column) in
the last row of this outline entry, you will see a down arrow.
This down arrow means that there are more sub-entries (children) to
this outline. Because it is in reverse video, they are also
temporarily hidden from view. To unhide (show) these children,
position the cursor anywhere in this outline element and PRESS THE
GRAY PLUS KEY.
1. Now you can see the next layer in the outline. These children
can also have children and so on, up to about 50 levels deep.
2. The GRAY PLUS key works like a toggle. If the children of the
current outline element are hidden, then the GRAY PLUS key will
unhide (show) them (You could also accomplish this with the
CURRENT ENTRY'S CHILDREN function from the SHOW menu); if they
are already unhidden, then the GRAY PLUS key will hide them (You
could also accomplish this with the CURRENT ENTRY'S CHILDREN
function from the HIDE menu).
3. Try practicing with the GRAY PLUS key. Position the cursor in
this outline element and press the GRAY PLUS key. The first
time you press it the children of this outline element will
appear. The second time you press it they will disappear.
Note, if the children are off the bottom of the screen, you may
have to move the cursor down to get the screen to scroll up so
that you can see the children after you unhide (show) them.
a) Now you see the children.
b) Position the cursor back in outline element 3. and press the
GRAY PLUS key again and these children will vanish again.
