JORJ SPELLING DICTIONARY JAN90 WORD
NEW RELEASE
What is JORJ ?
JORJ (George) is a 58000-word pop-up dictionary that is
different from any dictionary you have ever used before.
You can surely recall this old chestnut- "How can I find it
in the dictionary if I don't know how to spell it?". Well,
JORJ precludes the problem because JORJ is phonetic and
doesn't really care how you spell the word you are looking
for. If you can pronounce it JORJ will find it. For
example, you could enter the word "kwoshunt" and JORJ will
give you "quotient" or enter "numonik" and get "mnemonic" or
"toemain" will get "ptomaine". You not only get correct
spelling but the definition and all inflected forms of the
word on the same display.
JORJ also permits you to scan the definitions of the entire
database for a particular word. This SCAN feature will
provide a list of words and definitions which contain the
scan word as part of the definition. For example- if you
scan on the word "flower", a list of flowers will be
generated. Similarily, scanning on the word "Lat" will
produce a list of Latin words and "Fr" would get French
words/phrases. To get a list of dog breeds, you would scan
on "dog". The SCAN feature permits searching on either a
total word or partial word, referred to as EXCLUSIVE and
INCLUSIVE. An exlcusive scan on "India" would list all
records containing the word India. An inclusive scan on the
same word would also include records which contain the word
"Indian" and the list produced would include American Indian
tribes as well as references to India.
JORJ includes many entries not found in most desk-top
dictionaries. Proper names, foreign words and phrases,
weights/measures and items of general interest are
available. Even a list of Baseball greats is generated by
SCANNING on the word "Baseball".
JORJ is an entirely new approach to using a dictionary.
