  1. ******************************** SIGNOUT HELP *********************************
  2.
  3.   SIGNOUT  is designed to replace manual signout systems.   It is  best  used
  4.   with a Local Area Network (LAN).  An employee can use any PC on the network
  5.   to  sign  in  or out of the office and all other PC users  can  access  the
  6.   program  to  check the whereabouts of an employee.   This  is  particularly
  7.   useful  where  phone  calls are answered in multiple  locations.    Whoever
  8.   answers can quickly access SIGNOUT in order to let the caller know when the
  9.   person  being  called is expected back in the office.   To  execute,   type
  10.   "SIGNOUT" at the DOS prompt.
  11.
  12.   SIGNOUT  should be installed in a network directory in which all  potential
  13.   users have Read and Write access rights.   SIGNOUT.EXE reads and writes the
  14.   signout  information to SIGNOUT.PRN,  an ASCII file,  so other software can
  15.   access  it.    A   log  of  all changes to  SIGNOUT.PRN  is  maintained  in
  16.   SIGNOUT.LOG to allow for the tracking of signout habits by users.
  17.
  18.   To  add,   edit or delete names to the signout list in SIGNOUT.PRN,  or  to
  19.   reconfigure display options, execute the command "SIGNOUT EDIT"  at the DOS
  20.   prompt.  Configuration data is maintained in SIGNOUT.CFG.
  21.
  22.                         ****  NETESSENTIAL SYSTEMS  ****

  25.      ********************** SIGNOUT DISPLAY HELP **********************
  26.
  27. When a user accesses SIGNOUT and enters a name not recognized or simply hits
  28. {return} at the name request prompt, the list of names and signout status is
  29. displayed.  This screen will remain visible, regularly updating itself as
  30. users sign in or out from other terminals, until a function key is pressed.
  31.
  32.    The function keys offer added services to the signout sheet user
  33.
  34.         F1 - Help.
  35.         F2 - Edit a signout sheet entry.
  36.         F3 - User specific (eg. Printer Queue)           *** Future Enhancement
  37.         F4 - User specific (eg. Plotter Queue)           *** Future Enhancement
  38.         F5 - Send a message to one of the network users
  39.         F6 - User specific (eg. EMAIL)                   *** Future Enhancement
  40.         F7 - User specific                               *** Future Enhancement
  41.         F8 - User specific                               *** Future Enhancement
  42.         F9 - DOS Shell.
  43.        F10 - Exit SIGNOUT.
  44.
  45. The user defined keys execute DOS level commands such as Novell's "Q" or
  46. "USERLIST".  {F5} sends a message by entering the following command syntax
  47. based on the user entered data: SEND "{message}" TO {username}
  48.
  49.          ************************* USER HELP *************************
  50.
  51.    Type SIGNOUT from within the directory in which it resides.  You will be
  52. prompted for a user name.  Begin entering the name.  As soon as the routine
  53. excludes all but one possibility from the list of names, it beeps and displays
  54. it on screen.  If no recognition occurs or if {enter} is hit before recognition
  55. occurs, the signout sheet is displayed.
  56.
  57.    If recognition occurred, you will be prompted for the destination.  The
  58. destination default is "IN".  Once the destination has been entered, hit
  59. {enter} and wait for the next prompt.
  60.
  61.    Next you are asked to enter the time of return, default being the current
  62. time.  The {Up} and {Down} arrow keys will adjust the hours first.  When the
  63. correct hour appears, hit {enter} and the minutes can be adjusted.  Once the
  64. minutes have been adjusted and the {enter} key hit, the system confirms the
  65. input on screen and defaults to the signout sheet display unless {F10} is hit.
  66.
  67.    SIGNOUT requires that the SIGNOUT.HLP, SIGNOUT.PRN, SIGNOUT.LOG and
  68. SIGNOUT.CFG files be in the current directory.  The .LOG, .PRN and .CFG files
  69. are created upon intial installation.  The user must be able to read and modify
  70. these files and their attributes.  If the .LOG and .PRN files do not exist,
  71. SIGNOUT will offer to create them.
