  2.                                 INSTALLATION

  5. This software MUST be installed by using the INSTALL program that is 
  6. located on the master diskette.
  7.  
  8. Simply insert the master software disk into a floppy disk drive and enter the
  9. command: 
  10.  
  11.     <d>:INSTALL<return>
  12.  
  13.     where <d> is the letter of the floppy disk drive containing
  14.         the QUICKCACHE master diskette and <return> is the return key.
  15.  
  16. Answer the questions presented throughout the installation procedure.
  17.  
  18. The installation program will assist you in creating the proper directories
  19. and in modifying the DOS system files as appropriate.  No modifications
  20. will be made to your system without your express approval.  All    proposed 
  21. changes to system files will be displayed and highlighted for you to 
  22. review before accepting the proposed change(s).
  23.  
  24. Your target disk or diskette will need a minimum of 320,000 bytes of free
  25. space for the installed system.

  27. The master diskette should have the following files on it:

  31.     READ.ME     INSTALL.EXE Q001       Q002      Q003      Q004
  32.     Q005        Q006        Q007       Q009      Q010      Q011

  35. DISKETTE 2 (if 360kb diskettes)

  40. Be sure to read the file named: WHATS.NEW after the installation process
  41. for additions and errata information that may not appear in the main
  42. documentation.

  45.                               BONUS PROGRAMS
  46. ==============================================================================

  48. Also included in this release are several bonus programs that take 
  49. advantage of disk caching.  These programs are:
  50.  
  51.     QBACK   - hard disk backup utility.
  52.  
  53.     QSORT   - super fast ASCII file sort.
  54.  
  55.     QMAP    - document your system environment, a must if requesting
  56.               assistance via CompuServe.
  57.  
  58. Simply answer 'Y' during the installation process if you desire to install
  59. any of these programs.

  62.                               DOCUMENTATION
  63. ==============================================================================

  65. The documentation files QCACHE.DOC and QBACK.DOC are intended to be printed
  66. on a generic printer.  Formatting control characters imbedded within the 
  67. files should be suitable for virtually any printer that you should choose
  68. to use.  Simply enter "COPY *.DOC PRN" at the DOS prompt at the end of the
  69. installation procedure to produce these documents.

  71. QSORT.DOC and QMAP.DOC are smaller documentation files and may be viewed on
  72. your system console or printed on any printer.
