  3.        LS-1.00 Plus Scientific Calculator PROGRAM REFERENCE MANUAL.

  9. The LS-1.00 Plus Scientific Calculator is a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident)
  10. program that, when "asleep" will use only 11K bytes of DOS memory (it would
  11. take 5 calculators loaded RAM resident to use as much memory as 1 SideKick).
  12. The program has three options for becoming RAM resident or, it can be loaded
  13. and run as any non-resident utility.
  14.  
  15. The calculator features three types of logarithms, trigometric functions,
  16. including inverse and hyperbolic functions, angle conversions, date math,
  17. time math, fixed decimals to 15 significant digits, a full statistical
  18. package that includes an array that will accept 500 numbers, three types of
  19. random numbers, automatic computations of standard deviations, permutations,
  20. combinations, printer output, disk file output, a user configurable look-up
  21. table, and it supports binary, octal, hexidecimal, and complex number math,
  22. among other features.

  24. The LS-1.00 Plus Scientific Calculator will work with any number in the range
  25. of -1.79 x 10^308 to 1.79 x 10^308 (depending upon the number type).

  31. When the calculator pops up and pops down, it opens and closes like a wallet.
  32. When closed, the calculator will hold it's screen image for approximately
  33. 2 1/2 seconds, displaying the copyright notice.  You can speed this process
  34. up so that the calculator opens only once and closes only when it is removed
  35. from memory.  To speed it up, you must register the program.  In other words,
  36. if you find this program useful and are using it but, you are irritated by
  37. the delay during opening and closing of the calculator - then you should
  38. consider registering it.

  44. The calculator contains 72 "buttons".  Your computer's keyboard contains
  45. "keys".  They are not one and the same.  For example, the "End" button will
  46. remove the calculator from memory.  The "End" key will send the highlight to
  47. the right-most button of the calculator.  To actuate the "End" button and
  48. remove the calculator from memory, first highlight the "End" button then press
  49. the spacebar (mouse users simply send the mouse cursor to this button and
  50. click either the right or left mouse buttons).

  52. It cannot be stressed enough.  The Enter key and the spacebar key are not one
  53. and the same and perform two very different functions.  The Enter key will
  54. actuate only the equal key - nothing else.  The spacebar key will actuate any
  55. button that has been highlighted.  To actuate a highlighted button, use your
  56. spacebar key.  As you become used to this, you will appreciate this design
  57. and the operational speed it affords you.

  63. The LS-1.00 Plus Scientific Calculator has been programmed to work with any
  64. mouse that is 100% Microsoft mouse compatable.  A suprising number of mouse
  65. products are not 100% compatable.  If your mouse is NOT 100% Microsoft mouse
  66. compatable then several, undesirable effects may result from it's use.  Even
  67. users of the Microsoft mouse may experience problems if they are using older
  68. versions of the mouse driver.  Problems you may encounter are:
  69.  
  70.     You may see ghost, mouse cursors when the calculator is popped up then
  71.     popped down over an application in which the mouse is active.  This is
  72.     not a critical problem - just unsightly.
  73.  
  74.     You may experience a keyboard lockup if you move the mouse cursor while
  75.     the calculator is opening or closing.  This would require that you re-
  76.     boot your computer.  If your mouse is not 100% compatable to the Micro-
  77.     soft mouse, then don't move it while the calculator is opening or while
  78.     it is closing.

  80.     You may discover that your mouse cursor never appears.  This is not a
  81.     critical problem.

  83. Many non-Microsoft mouses can work perfectly with the LS-1.00 Plus Scientific
  84. Calculator when installed with the Microsoft MOUSE.COM driver.  The LS-1.00
  85. Plus Scientific Calculator includes the latest version of the Microsoft
  86. MOUSE.COM mouse driver (version 6.25).  Users of the true, Microsoft mouse
  87. will definitely benefit by installing MOUSE.COM, supplied with this program.

  98. It is HIGHLY recommended that you print the accompanying PROGRAM REFERENCE
  99. MANUAL (LSRGCALC.DOC).  This manual contains many useful tips to quickly
  100. make you proficient with your calculator, whether your computer system has
  101. a mouse installed or not.  The manual also contains a wealth of information
  102. concerning Laws of Mathematics, Cosines, Logarithms, etc., and, it explains
  103. some of the calculator features that are not found in any other calculator.
  104. Read the manual from start to end, you'll be glad you did.
  105.  
  106. The PROGRAM REFERENCE MANUAL contains many symbols found in the extended
  107. ASCII character set (ASCII 127 to ASCII 255).  If your printer is capable
  108. of emulating an IBM printer's character set 2, then you should have no
  109. trouble printing the manual.  If you are unsure whether your printer can
  110. print the ASCII extended character set, have your printer print the ASCII
  111. test file called, ASCII.TST.  If this one page file prints ok, then proceed
  112. with printing the manual.  If the test file prints but, replaces the ASCII
  113. characters with other characters, you can still print the manual but some of
  114. it's meaning may be lost.  If all else fails, pre-printed manuals are
  115. available with the registration of this program.

  121. To test your printer, at the DOS prompt, type the command:
